SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A vote by Utah lawmakers to bring back executions by firing squad is the most dramatic illustration yet of the nationwide frustration over bungled executions and shortages of lethal-injection drugs.

Utah and several other states are scrambling to modify their laws on the heels of a botched Oklahoma lethal injection last year and one in Arizona in which the condemned man took nearly two hours to die. Meanwhile, Texas executed a Mexican mafia hit man Wednesday evening with its second-to-last dosage of drugs.

I think I would choose the firing squad if I had to be executed.

It just seems so much more manly.

I saw film of WWII German Werewolves during the Battle of the Bulge. They were tied to posts and instantly turned into rag dolls. Did not appear to suffer at all.

A proper hanging takes practice, and we are too awash in guilt about the whole capital punishment meme for good hangmen to practice. Too short a drop and they dance, strangling, too far and the head pops off. On Youtube, watch "The Last Hangman" about Albert Pierrepoint, who scored 435.

The Russians have long since made shooting quick and easy. The condemned is led through a series of doors to the shower, and one time Someone steps in behind and pops a bullet into the back of his head. Fast, clean, cheap.

My thought is, if you aren't going to do it right, don't do it at all.
