Their loyal followers and media rump-swabs pretend to believe the lies and act aghast at the suggestion that anyone else could possibly think their leaders would lie or shade the truth.
Two weeks later they start to complain that questions about their criminality are old news.
Then they go back to claiming that they are the smartest people to ever hole office.
