Almost six in ten Americans say they favor allowing gay and lesbian couples to enter into same-sex marriages, the highest level of support ever recorded in a NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
In the new survey released Monday, 59 percent of Americans said that they favor same-sex marriages while just 33 percent said they oppose them.

The numbers have shifted dramatically in the past decade. In 2004, only 30 percent of Americans said they supported same-sex marriage, while 62 percent disagreed. Half of those polled at the time said they strongly opposed allowing gays and lesbians to marry.
Democratic pollster Fred Yang noted how quickly public opinion has shifted on the issue, even compared to interracial marriage, which is now almost universally accepted.
"It took about 25 years for interracial marriage to get from 30 percent support to 60 percent," he said. "It took same-sex marriage ten years."
The share of the public backing same-sex marriage has even jumped from just two years ago, when 53 percent of Americans backed it and 42 percent did not.
That's due in part to big increases in support among Republicans (up 13 percent since 2013), seniors (up seven percent), and Hispanics (up 18 percent).

2014 saw California’s gay marriage amendment (which was overwhelmingly supported) kicked back down by the Supreme Court when Jerry Brown refused to do his elected duty and defend his state’s Constitution. The amendment sponsors were told they “didn’t have standing” which is false. Any state amendment can be invalidated now if the powers that be decide to not abide by it. Referendums mean nothing.
This was all well after 2000.
This folly will punish itself. Push God’s love out of your institutions and becken the devil’s hate into them, and the result does not need rocket science to predict.
“and in a southern city it could be ying, yang, wang,DANG! BANG!!”
Just in the South huh? Funny how people always think us Southern folks live in the world capital of intolerance............Still liked your joke though. :)
How about “severing it from the entire picture”?
Support for polygamy and pedophilia can’t be too far behind.
..don’t much get a call for DANG up these parts
There was more vigor behind this. Backing down ages of consent to biblical norms (for both straight AND perverted versions of sex, vitiating the reason for biblical norms) is closer philosophically to where America is.
>>Ultimately, marriage for pleasure alone, whether homo or hetero, Is not a true marriage. We just cannot sever sex from babies deliberately without consequences.
The dirty little secret is that the agenda has been ZPG (zero population growth) for a very long time.
Here’s Margaret Sanger demanding “NO MORE BABIES” (in Western Europe for 10 years) in 1947.

Western Civilization is eliminating itself by attrition. The institution of marriage is rejected. The desire to reproduce has been squashed among women. It’s not just in the US, it is in England. It’s even in Japan (which is Eastern but was brought up under Western oversight following the war).
In 2000 CA passed prop. 22 by 61%. It was struck down by the state SC. In 2012 NC passed its amendment by 61%. And prop. 8 was only passed by 52% in 2008. CA lost 9% in eight years on the issue. And that’s actual votes, not what one stranger decides to tell another what they think about ‘gay marriage’ over the phone.
Freegards
Keep an eye on the big picture. Ole Maggie was full of herself, meaning to be full of the devil.
I don’t know if I believe the poll, the gay-rights activists are also hard-cases, check this out:
State senators family receives death threats after promoting religious freedom from gay marriage - State senators family receives death threats after promoting religious freedom from gay marriage
Didn’t Santorum and Bachmann both get hassled in 2012 for their views, glittered? Anyone who really stands up to the activists get a bullseye painted on them.
The only reason it failed in CA in '08 was because Obama brought more African-Californians to the polls than ever, and most of them were political liberals but spiritual Christians and opposed same-sex marriage. A vote in CA today would almost certainly allow same-sex marriage 60-40.
Yeah, I would imagine there’s not too many Southerners in Jersey. I went there once.
So does that officially make me a minority now? Where do I file?
The slide down the toilet continues for American society,
