Is Joe Biden Running for President?
The Atlantic ^ | MAR 9 2015 | Russell Berman

The vice president may be an afterthought in the race for the nomination, but unlike other top Democrats, he's visited all three early primary states this year.

There's only one prominent Democratic contender who has traveled to all three early presidential primary states so far in 2015. It's not Hillary Clinton. Nor is it Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, or even Martin O'Malley.

It's Joe Biden, who may be running the most under-the-radar White House campaign of any sitting vice president in modern times. Biden made stops in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina last month. The appearances were all ostensibly aimed at promoting President Obama's agenda, but as the old axiom goes, no politician visits any of these states by accident, and certainly not in the calendar year before primary voters head to the polls.

The 72-year-old, generally regarded as the nation's well-meaning but goofy (and occasionally creepy) grandpa, Biden has long been considered an afterthought in the 2016 sweepstakes. The assumption: He's not crazy enough to think he could take on Hillary, his good friend and former Cabinet-mate...is he?

To hear the vice president tell it, however, that's exactly what he'll be considering over the next several months. Unlike Clinton, Biden has never been coy about his interest in seeking the presidency for the third time since 1988. Asked by ABC's George Stephanopoulos in January whether he might challenge the former secretary of state, Biden replied, "Yes, there's a chance." He said he views the 2016 field as "wide open" on both sides and emphasized that he doesn't need to make a decision on the race until late in the summer. Speaking in Iowa last month, Biden also notably embraced the idea—leveled as criticism by Republicans—that the Democratic nominee in 2016 would be running for Obama's third term.

The Atlantic thinks that the vice president is in the president's cabinet? Where do they get these writers, off the street?

You’ve got a better eye for detail than me...I totally skimmed right by that. I enjoyed the part about him being a lecherous old fool, though.

You make more than a few “eye for detail” mistakes on a report to the president and all of a sudden you’re stirring a huge pot of goulash with a canoe paddle.

Is Joe Biden Running for President?

That would be a difficult question to answer. Joe would be the last one to know so who do you ask? Forget 0bama, he won't know until MSLSD reports it.

I believe that it's called a head fake.

Mister Biden has no more inclination of running for the Dem nom than do I.

The man appears to have occasional bouts of ludicity, interspersed with hours of vacuosity. (I, in person, have heard the man give a looonnng yet somewhat scattered speech. A person of greater stature might have been embarrassed.)

He is not seriously running, although if he convinces folks that he might be, that would take scrutiny away from the likely Dem candidate (Elizabeth Warren).

Why wouldn’t he want to win? He obviously wants to be president and thinks he’s a big deal. He is the VP. If for some reason Hillary can’t run, he probably will be president.

You are not getting my memos?

The Democrat Dream Team in '16 will be:

POTUS Candidate: Joe Biden (Joey Plugs)
VPOTUS: Michelle Robinson Obama(Micki O)

They will trounce whomever Karl Rove selects for us. Joey Plugs will assume ambient temperature soon after his inauguration, (infected hair plugs) leaving Micki O as POTUS. Early Spring of '16, Micki O will divorce O, and thereafter during the campaign stress her relationship with Cousin Jesse Jackson. Scoff if you must, but Ouija never lies.
