I know it seems harsh, but eye for an eye justice is effective. If nothing else, it ensures the punishments fit the crimes. What else should be done with someone who throws acid in another person’s face? Should the criminal be given community service, a light sentence, a slap on the wrist?

Punishments should serve to deter others from doing similar crimes. This is one of the few areas where I agree with Islamic culture. They don’t have a lot of crime for obvious reasons. That doesn’t mean I agree with everything they call criminal, but I surely agree murderers and attempted murders deserve swift and severe punishment.

I have to agree. I’d hate to see someone get their hand chopped off for speeding, but for burglary or armed robbery? Well. My sympathies dwindle.

And, I bet they didn’t wade thru 12 years of appeals courts before finally administering the punishment.
