Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. vowed a firm response on Friday to what he called “appalling” racial misconduct by law enforcement officials in Ferguson, Mo., suggesting he was prepared to seek the dismantling of the police force there if necessary.
“We are prepared to use all the powers that we have, all the power that we have, to ensure that the situation changes there,” Mr. Holder told reporters here after returning from Columbia, S.C., where he appeared with President Obama at a town hall-style meeting at Benedict College. “That means everything from working with them to coming up with an entirely new structure.”
Asked if that included dismantling the police force, Mr. Holder said: “If that’s what’s necessary, we’re prepared to do that.”
His remarks came after two police supervisors in Ferguson resigned after being linked to racist emails turned up by a Justice Department investigation.
The two supervisors, Capt. Rick Henke and Sgt. William Mudd, left the force on Thursday, the city’s information office said Friday. A third employee, Mary Ann Twitty, clerk of the Municipal Court, was fired on Wednesday for her role in the emails.
Officials did not say whether any of the three actually wrote the emails, or whether other employees were involved in writing or forwarding them.
Captain Henke had been with the Ferguson Police Department since 1979, and was acting police chief for several months in 1997 and 1998. Last fall, he led a “night muster” formation of officers from other departments assigned to protect Ferguson’s Police Headquarters.

Anyone with more than a 6th grade education, a grasp of history beyond entitlements that slavery presumably bestows, and a sense of social order beyond tribal "respect" KNOWS the trajectory that's inevitable with ALL countries in the last 300 years that chose to maintain social order primarily through the means of a "National Police!"
The current continuing attempt to try "one more time" with the greatest free society ever so far in recorded history is also condemned to fail.
Normal, educated and rational citizens of any country would never tolerate any megalomaniac who would suggest a repetition.

Thank you-it isn’t original-a similar thing has happened in a couple of the tourist-trap rural towns with less than 1000 or so people in this part of the state in the last few years over disagreements with the citizens.
There were no ethnic/racial overtones to any of it-while there are a few families of other ethnic/racial ancestry here, most of the population in this area is primarily Caucasian and pretty evenly divided ethnically between Latino and Anglo/WASP. The main complaint was that the cops harassed tourists to get money from fines of all kinds, which hurts the tourist business-a big deal-and also complaints against cops for doing the same thing to local people to get money, resulting in several persons targeted winning big bucks lawsuits against the town/county-most unwise.
In one case, the cops went to the courthouse and quit, and in another a town council defunded the PD, eliminating it. The policing duties went either to the county sheriff or to a town marshal who was chosen. In both cases, it has worked very, very well-no more lawsuits, complaints of harassment, lost business revenue, etc-and no increase in crime...
If it works out here where frontier justice is still practiced sometimes, it might work for Ferguson, too...

Holder doesn’t have the authority to do this. That won’t stop him though. Even if he doesn’t cause this directly he will force it to happen with the weight of the federal government.
Obama calls Missouri Governor “You want X subsidy you were promised? It can happen or not. Depends on how you answer this question: What do you believe should happen to the Ferguson Police Department”?
The Feds don’t have the direct power to enforce this change but they certainly have the indirect power to enforce it.
If there weren't so many Fibbies who still insist on that silly Constitution thing, and demonstrated more loyalty to the Dear Leader, it would have worked out very well.
Bingo! You figured it out. That is the Plan. The Feds have been selling MRAPS designed for military combat to police agencies nationwide for pennies on the dollar. They have been supplying them with military gear, ammo, automatic weapons, body armor, grenades, etc. All lethal weapons of War. The Feds under Obama/Holder constantly threaten to pull money to any State or agency that will not play ball. Once Imam/Holder take Ferguson, the rest will fall into line.

With all the fluff about Selma this wknd, it’s amazing that the Dems try to take credit for it, but the Selma march was against the racist southern Democraps.

Problem is, you wind up with East St. Louis in about 18 months, tops. An economic and social desert. Whites will see what Obama is doing and flee Ferguson, abandoning their equities and just getting their families the hell to safety. Who wants to star in a continuing production of Zulu every weekend?
They have the power to conduct a "civil-rights" lawsuit against Ferguson which will bankrupt the town, if the town doesn't do what they demand.
The Dept of Just-Us Civil Rights Division needs to be disbanded by the next Republican president.
The wrongful death lawsuits will do that.
They read one or two on NPR. They were clearly just humor, something about crimestoppers is when a black baby dies (better worded punchline).
