we need a way of taking congressional hearings and investigations out of the hands of congress but dont see anyone making a push for something like that to happen. How about a federal "grand jury" and "Office of the Federal Prosecutor" both staffed and elected by the states? They could work in conjunction with a reconfigured FBI.
A Convention of States could probably get this done.

Yeah something that is triggered automatically to take these things out of the hands of congress.
Personally I think we should find a new means of choosing an attorney general anyway. This crap of the AG acting at the president's personal prosecutor/defender is getting damn old. We have an elected AG and SOS in michigan and they both regularly oppose the governor despite being from the same party.
