President Obama was on his way to an event in Selma, Alabama, when the noise was heard.
Press were immediately moved out of the way while the First Family were not yet outside the building.

The incident means the president is now running 30 minutes late for the event in Selma, Alabama.
Obama and his family were due to leave for the region at around 10.30am local time, but they are now well past that.
No news on whether or not the visit is going to be cancelled.

The White House was put on lockdown after a loud noise was heard on the South Lawn moments before President Barack Obama and his family were due to take off by helicopte.
It said the noise prompted Secret Service agents to move the press back into the briefing room, lock the doors and put the building on lockdown.
Obama and his family were not yet on the South Lawn when the noise was heard.
Obama and his family were about to depart by helicopter to Andrews Air Force Base to board Air Force One and travel to Selma, Alabama, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a civil rights march.
At the same time, a fire was reported to have broken out in a van just a short distance from the White House.
Those on the ground suggest it was a food vendor's van that became consumed in flames.
