Washington (CNN)Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson apologized for commenting Wednesday that prisoners' changes after they leave jail proves being gay is a choice, but said that the science is still murky on the issue.
In a statement, Carson said he "realized that my choice of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues."
"I do not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended," he added.

He’s a good guy in some ways and certainly was gifted as a neurosurgeon but is the Mr. Rogers of political candidates.

This is why he is not ready to be President. He, along with other would-be candidates, needs to learn to think before he speaks, and not spout off-the-wall stuff, even if he does believe it, unless he’s ready to die on that particular hill.
So, Carson shows his true colors - he’s no more than another gutless politician, a PC-driven coward, having no backbone to stand up for that which is morally right. He is willing to sacrifice ontological truth on the altar of political correctness, so as not to jeopardize his standing as a candidate for POTUS ... I got news for you, Ben - you just blew your integrity right out of the water ... You might as well pack your bags and go home, with your head hung in shame. Nobody likes a coward.

Carson should double down and say it is a choice, and that many people do not accept it as a parallel “civil rights” movement.
Most blacks would agree with him on both points, but they are told to shut up and go to the back of the bus because the gays are more special.
I don’t know what your reply has to do with guys in prison being raped. Yes, I believe a gay person can be changed, but I guess you consider a person raped in the same category.
Wow. I don’t think I have ever seen a more disastrous first 24 hours of a presidential (or any) candidate in history. First was his ill-advised “exploratory committee” announcement — on the day of Bibi’s speech. Does he read a newspaper? Then the bizarre prison/gay comments to Cuomo. Carson always had an odd way with words, but it is damn clear he would not even finish in the top 3 in the GOP race. Well at least the RunBenRun fundraising shyster John Phillip Sousa IV made mega millions on Carson’s name while it lasted.

I'll be honest. For the life of me, I don't see what's so lovable about someone who apologizes for having Christian principles...who backs down like a chastised puppy after the first confrontation. I find it weak and disgusting.
