In one of the partys best pickup opportunities this cycle, Democrats have zeroed in on second-time candidate Monica Vernon to win Iowas 1st District.
Freshman Rep. Rod Blum, a Republican, holds the seat. But the districts composition is competitive, if not left-leaning: In 2012, President Barack Obama won it with 56 percent.

On the other side, theres concern in the state Blum might not get much help from Washington, D.C. after voting against John A. Boehner for speaker on his first day in office. Iowa Republicans noted Blum didnt make the National Republican Congressional Committees initial list for the Patriot Program, which names vulnerable members who need help in 2016.
The NRCC declined to comment.
Vernon was quick to use that vote to attack Blum, tying him another Iowa Republican in the House.
His first vote was to join Steve King and vote for the alternative speaker of the House from Florida, she said. This district does not want a Steve King representing it, Im quite certain of that.

Blum is probably the only candidate in Iowa worth supporting. King and Grassley will win by 20 points regardless of fundraising. David Young is an Obamacare Amnesty supporting RINO.
Even Rand Paul and Scott Walker are having fundraisers with him.
Boehner and the Dems should look for Chamber Maiden RINO David Young in lean Republican Iowa's 3rd for a cheap pickup.
Democrats will have a field day. Tea Party is OUT. We are not voting for traitor republicrats ( 75 in particular). I would rather have real Democrats than “want to be” lying republicrats. This is NOT over gentlemen.
When Jeb wanted a belated token appearance in Iowa, the best he could do was be hosted by David Young.
Rod Blum is that rare pol who acts and votes more Tea Party than he talks. He won the congressional district of failed Iowa Dem US Senate candidate Bruce Braley.
Great News! Just curious now, what party is this democrat? A 'Rat or a GOPe?
Not that it matters.
Forget the horse races. Enough kicking the can down the road. The GOPee capitulate 114 Congress has screwed the pooch. There is no future, only the present.
It sounds as though the DemocRATS are already experiencing premature ejaculation. A little early for this isn’t it?
