The Republicans have themselves in a hole, but here is how to get out of it. Pass a Clean bill for Dhs. Then pass a bill in both the House and Senate that says you oppose what Obama did and believe it is unconstitutional, but passed DHS only to protect the country. Pass a bill the is a "sense of the congress" which does not require a presidential signature and therefore is veto proof, but puts the Supreme court on notice. Since the Supreme Court relies on "congressional intent" and the "will of the people as expressed by the congress" they will have no problem understanding what happened.
What's the point in having an agency that is responsible for securing the border and won't. The anti-terrorism responsibilities will continue to be handled by the FBI, NSA & CIA. They just won't report to a DHS bureaucrat.
Zero $$$ to the DHS until they commit to enforcing the legitimate law as enacted by the congress and securing the borders!!
No thanks. You’re giving Obama and the open borers crowd exactly what they want. He’ll gladly sign the funding bill and Congress forfeits it’s authority. The fix has been in since the CRomnibus. Everything since has been for show, not substance.
It would be easier to go to the Nuclear Option which requires only 51 votes and not 60.
After you do that, you take out the funding for the amnesty issue, and then you pass the rest of the DHS bill for another year.

Why don’t they just not fold and let the small part of DHS that will shut down with no funding, just shut down? It is not like the whole department will close. I think it is good for the people to see that they will not even notice when it is shut down.
To try and distance citizens from their former affections they got rid of the states and renamed sections of the country with names like 'Heartland'.
When I first heard the name of this new agency:
Department of Homeland Security
my first thought was: The commies DID win the Cold War. We have become Amerika.
Only I don't live in 'Heartland'. I live in 'California Special District' with Harry Reid as my chief representative.
...and if the president DOES NOT sign the bill telling him to stop the Amnesty, I assume we all learn Spanish.

Didn’t fully read your plan...it’s toothless. If the Republicans fund the Amnesty, that’s all that will matter to the Supreme Court...that simple.
The BETTER OPTION is to simply SAY NO. DHS will still operate...but Obama’s boys will have to EXPLAIN TO THE COUNTRY that DHS isn’t being paid because the President DEMANDS AMNESTY for millions of Illegals.
The Democrats know that they CANNOT MAKE THAT CASE, which is why they BUCKLED on Friday and agreed to a one-week extension, even after demanding full funding, and even rejecting a three-week extension.
The Republicans CALLED THEIR BLUFF on this AND WON, but I’m not even sure the Republicans realize that. It seems most people on this site still haven’t figured that out either.

If the other agencies were doing their jobs, there would be no need for DHS. And from where I sit, it’s staffed by a bunch of bumbling fools. Just another jobs program for the mentally challenged. (Yes, I’m sure there are exceptions, but few that I’ve seen.)
Better would be to change the focus of the fight to that of not funding DHS altogether. Funding DHS is the buying of security at the price of liberty.
I’ll put it yet ANOTHER WAY:
WHY THE HELL should we have to rely on the Supreme Court or any other courts to carry out our police when WE CONTROL CONGRESS?
Are we THAT BEATEN that we cannot even make policy, given our MAJORITIES in BOTH HOUSES - and thus we have to go crying to the courts to get our way?
If Obama doesn’t want to carry out the WILL OF CONGRESS, and the will of the country, for that matter - then LET HIM EXPLAIN why legalizing these people IS SO IMPORTANT.
It’s time that HE and his people MAKE THAT CASE - it is NOT OUR JOB to do that.
Sounds like a Pyrrhic victory, also known as no victory at all. Optics are ok when you don’t have a fighting chance, but here there is a fighting chance. Settling for optics would be . . . let’s just say, a less than perfect outcome.
Damn it, defund the DHS. It is a worthless piece of crap anyway. The FBI, CIA, Military intelligence, and by relying on local enforcement of the States we are covered. Privatize the TSA with CIA oversight..

That is ABSOLUTELY the way to go. That way the ‘RATS (and RINOs?) who favor funding the extraconstitutional USURPATION by the anti-American inhabitant of the White House will have their votes go on record. Make THEM own that! And if Obama vetoes the legislation and the DHS has to “shut down”, HE AND THE ‘RATS will OWN THAT. There is no way even the mainstream media will be able to spin that.
Will McConnell do that? Not likely....considering that he has balls the size of a flea’s balls and a brain the size of a chipmunk’s brain. He is so easily manipulated by the ‘RATS (or he secretly wants the same thing as the “RATS).
Boehner should stand firm...force the wimpy McConnell to take this action!
Shut it down, the DHS is there only to protect the government.

If the president doesn’t sign the budget, nothing shuts down. Nothing.
If Homeland Security won’t secure the border, and won’t deport the border jumpers, then they have no purpose.
But even at that, nothing shuts down. They don’t get paid, and you just let everyone know that they aren’t getting paid because the president wants to give social security numbers to illegal aliens, and he wants citizens to pay for it.
That’ll go over like a lead balloon. You’ll have Democrats running away from the president like scalded cats.
Sort of like the Netanyahu debacle, where they scream that Democrats are going to boycott, and then you find out its half a dozen. Out of five hundred, half a dozen. A well deserved humiliation for the president. And all you have to do to deliver it is to hold firm.
