Rob Bell, the widely popular and controversial former megachurch pastor, is now convinced that a church doesnt support same-sex marriage will "continue to be even more irrelevant." Bell made the comments on an episode of Oprah Winfrey's "Super Soul Sunday," where he appeared with his wife Kristen to talk about religion and spirituality.
"One of the oldest aches in the bones of humanity is loneliness," Bell said. "Loneliness is not good for the world. Whoever you are, gay or straight, it is totally normal, natural and healthy to want someone to go through life with. It's central to our humanity. We want someone to go on the journey with." Bell notes that Christianity is evolving and that many Christians have already opened their hearts to the idea that two people of the same sex would choose to journey together.
In fact, he says the churchs acceptance of gay marriage is inevitable."
"I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life," he said.

In a world that laughs at marriage prefers serial marriage..
and shacking up... now gays want to be married?..
Being gay is all about shacking up.. sexual ugly bumping.. sucking, licking and humping..
looks like mocking marriage.. to me.. marriage is about KIDS..
the very reason TO BE married.. no kids its just friendship.. or sex play..
That’s probably going to get a retort that of course he doesn’t stand for that.
I don’t see the point of bothering with silly examples. I point out that spiritually and emotionally, God is way beyond some Cold Policeman in the Sky. But the fist we shake in His face is hiding His love from us.
In essence, he believes Man is wiser than God.
“Former pstor.” That says it all. Now he just wants the limelight again. Get lost false teacher.
God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and so is his WORD and it does not evolve with man’s whims or new beliefs. Rob Bell is clearly lost.
Far fewer “marry” than even Bell is willing to realize. He’s been misled. If “marrying” fixed a “gay loneliness problem” then it would be seen in associated numbers. It doesn’t. If anything it seems to encourage more alley catting, not less.
better to be relevant and in line with God and Jesus than the followers of Satan or self-absorbed men and women who have no faith in anything other than themselves, if that.
Bell is more than lost, he’s switched allegiances, if he ever was a Christian.
Old news.....and there is a reason Bell is a “former” pastor....because HE is irrelevant.
Isaiah 5:20 applies.
The creature expands the definition of love beyond its elastic limit.
Should have set off alarm bells going way back when he named his “megachurch” after Mars Hill, the bastion of paganism mentioned in Acts 17.
When evil is folded in (and it does not take rocket scientists to tell you buggery is mean — why would it be so commonly used to humiliate enemies in pagan culture?) it stops being love. It isn’t a matter even of elastic limit, it is a matter of something WRONG being incorporated.
By the way I would take St. Paul’s advice rather than the advice of this pastor; i.e. “Come out from among them.” Christians will become irrelevant in this world; i.e. the great apostasy. The apostasy will not happen because of this pastor he is a symptom not a cause.
Well I don’t fash myself with such questions any more than Martin Luther cared for the church fathers hypothesizing about the sin of violating Mary.
>>Malachi 3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers ‘ soap.<<

Sadly, he’s probably right.
I say no one is preventing anyone from choosing who they “go through life” with. Marriage is a horse of a different color.
I’ve noticed that the leftists take a term then expand that term beyond its accepted meaning. Your interpretation is interesting “incorporation theory” I’ll call it.
