Cruz says he’s the most Reagan-like in crowded 2016 field

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, gave an impassioned stump speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference today, presenting himself as the true Reagan-like conservative to look at in 2016.

“How do we bring back the miracle that is America?” he asked a mobbed ballroom at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. “We reassemble the Reagan coalition.” In 1980 Ronald Reagan appealed to the traditional GOP base, labor and Democrats to win and serve two terms.

. . . . .

“How do we differentiate? . . .In a campaign, every candidate say I’m the most conservative candidate that ever lived.”

Quoting Scripture - “You shall know them by their fruit.” - Cruz said, “Demand action, not talk.” He listed a litany of issues that he has been identified with - Obamacare, the nation’s debt, President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, support for gun ownership, Israel and Iran -- and after each one said people need to ask the same thing: “When have you stood up and fought?”

“Talk is cheap,”said Cruz. “If you’re really a conservative, you will have been in the trenches, you will be bearing the scars.”

And alluding to his frequent run-ins with Senate GOP leadership, he said, “If you had a candidate who stood against Democrats, that’s great. When have you been willing to stand against Republicans?”

“I am convinced 2016 is going to be an election very much like 1980,” he said.

. . . .

Cruz made clear that he is the last Republican in the Senate that will be accommodating.

I like Ted Cruz and while he is a "true Reagan-like conservative", he is no Ronald Reagan.

And he'll never get the nomination.

That's funny coming from you.

You know they said the same things about Reagan, right?

Not the first time people have promoted longshots for potus as the next Reagan. Ted Cruz may espouse conservatism, but he is no Reagan. Period!

I know you guys will be doing your best to promote Ted Cruz, but he’ll never get the nomination. And you know it too.

I know NO such thing.

However, I do believe that, if you are being honest about liking Ted Cruz, you are going to be pleasantly surprised when he is nominated as the next GOP POTUS candidate for 2016!

Always been honest and always been a conservative. If by some miracle Ted Cruz gets the nomination, he'll get my vote. America needs conservative leadership now more than ever. We don't need the lesser of two evil choices anymore. No more Dole-McCain-Romney types.

It would be nice to have Ted Cruz as President, especially now that the Executive gets to make law.

I'm only voting for Cruz, whether selecting him as a choice on my ballot or writing him in. BTW, let me leave you with this quote: The most terrifying words for a Conservative are: I'm from the Republican establishment and I'm here to tell you who to vote for.

America needs a total rewind back to 2008, ripping up and out everything zero has planted, fumigating the fields from coast to coast, and hardening all the laws that work and are constitutional, and complete re-seeding after applying the right fertilizer for our economy, defense, culture.

Walker gonna do that for you? He’s still tying his shoes over RTW and gay marriage. Not to mention building a Mexican Consulate in Madison.
