Lets not forget the elderly population. While not all of them are democrat, large swaths vote dem/union because it is ingrained.

My parents largely voted Democrat, although my Dad would once in a while vote for a liberal Republican. Both parents have passed on now, but I wonder if they were alive today, would they still vote Democrat. One thing that is different from when they were around is the rise of social liberalism. They were alive after Roe v, Wade, but I'm sure they wouldn't take too kindly to every other rampant perversion that is being forced upon us now.

I still have one aunt left (my mother's youngest sister). She always voted Democrat, but since Obama came to power, she has become increasingly conservative. It was Obamacare that really opened her eyes and made her look more closely at the party and its harmful philosophies as a whole.

So maybe there is some hope.
