A student's Jewish affiliation became the subject of a heated debate at University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) earlier this month, after the student government nearly scrapped her acceptance due to her background.
Student Rachel Beyda applied to be a member of the UCLA Judicial Board in February, and presented herself as a candidate in front of the Board.
However, the meeting quickly dissolved into a debate over whether her Jewish background and affiliation with Jewish life on campus is a "conflict of interest," as can be seen in the video below. The debate begins at 47:30.

Seriously?
UCLA
"Sons of B*tch*s Westwood"
(played after a good anti-semetic attack)
We are Sons of B*tch*s Westwood
And we hail to the hatreds of old
True to screed our hearts will be
Our hate will not grow old,
SPITE SPITE SPITE
Nazis roam the hills of Westwood
By the blue Pacific shores
And if we chance to see
An Israeli
Every Bruin starts to roar.
U...C...L...A... UCLA, SPITE! SPITE! SPITE! (repeat verse)
Why shouldn’t a Jew be on the JUdicial board?
How many muzzie students were denied for the same reasons?
Mao is smiling up from Hell.
And what are the trustees, governor and Legislature doing to finally clean the nazis and islamonazis out of the taxpayer- funded colleges in California?
And she answered these questions? Why would anyone answer questions that have no bearing on the issue? Did they ask if she preferred boxers or briefs?
Thomas Jefferson was repeatedly asked about his faith. He warned of religion or adherence to a particular faith becoming a litmus test for office. Of course students are not taught this.
I'll be in the Coliseum on November 28 to watch the Trojans beat the Bruins and win back the Bell.
Fight on!
Scratch a campus progressive and you will find a fascist underneath.
One might recall that it was only a few years ago that Judeophobia was associated with the far right and most liberal/leftists supported Israel.
No, that was never the case. Leftists in particular were quite anti-Israel, even historically and especially in actions if not in words. Lip service is worth the skin of the lips it comes from.
I quickly learned that as a freshman at Occidental College, which residents of the surrounding neighborhood called Moscow on the hill. Today, Pyongyang on the hill would be more appropriate, as the repressive leftist political climate has gotten much worse.
Many liberals once supported Israel. Liberal icon and martyr Sen. Robert F. Kennedy (D-NY) gave his life for his support of the country. Many anti-Vietnam war protesters that I knew supported Israel because, unlike Vietnam—in their view—Israel was a democracy.
The fact that it was ruled by socialists until 1987 may have added to Israel’s appeal among liberals.
