President Obama vetoes Keystone XL pipeline
Verge ^ | 2-24-2015 | Kwame Opam

Nearly two weeks after Congress approved the controversial Keystone XL pipeline, President Obama has officially vetoed the bill calling for its construction. The decision follows a clear statement from the White House last month saying the president would not sign the bill into law if Congress, currently controlled by Republican lawmakers, passed it.

Warren Buffett is QUITE happy. Imagine or perhaps someone can find out, how much his railroad makes, leasing the tank cars AND hauling crude oil to LA right now. Subsidized rail, AND his charges on top. Oh yeah, he’s a geeeenius. Takes no talent at all to buy a greedy mack daddy pretending to care about the “enviiiironment”. Right.. liar.

Solar or Wind

You have a car that runs on those? That you only charge during the wind or bright sunshine?

Unions wouldn't have gotten the jobs for constructing the pipeline....these are going to Canadians and other American groups who would bid on the Pipeline, who travel from state to state to build and maintain pipelines....so they wouldn't be new jobs of any permanence anyway, though a lot of lower level temproary jobs. We saw this with the fracking in our areas....the good paying jobs go to the crews who travel state to state...the rest is farmed out temporarily...once they're done the job is done.

Something every day. .

We're losing our country. They ignore the Constitution. The republicans are now just part of the uniparty. We have no say or representation in Washington D.C. We have been totally deceived since November. I had some hope then, but no more.

No representation means we no longer have a country. No taxation without true representation.

No borders equals no country.

Atheist communists and socialists are deciding our fate.

Crushing daily regulations and new taxes.

A Manchurian coup and soft tyranny. . So, now what?

What is it going to take? . . . We only have a short window to act. . .

We Voted in November to STOP Marxist Obama!

We Voted to Stop the Marxist/Alinsky/Cloward-Piven planned destruction of our Sacred Republic.

Congress is ignoring us.

Washington before the Battle of Long Island said this:

"The fate of unborn Millions will now depend, under God, on the Courage and Conduct of this army — Our cruel and unrelenting Enemy leaves us no choice but a brave resistance, or the most abject submission; this is all we can expect — We have therefore to resolve to conquer or die: Our own Country’s Honor, all call upon us for a vigorous and manly exertion, and if we now shamefully fail, we shall become infamous to the whole world."

Actually, except for a few off grid hippies and survivalists, most solar or wind energy is fed into the major electric grids where it is balanced with feedstocks of coal and natural gas, and other renewables. An electric car owner can have an electric outlet in his garage or yard to plug in his electric car. Also, charging stations are beginning to appear at commercial locations. Renewables are a useful addition to power needs. Some day when oil supplies are low people will be screaming because all the useful plastics and other things produced from petroleum are in short supply and very costly.

Thank you for the information. I find it hard to understand why rational people do not favor developing all our power resources, not just the carbon based ones.

As this would help America and Americans, Obama of course vetoed it.

Electricity to power that golf cart wannabe car come from where? Solar and wind are unreliable. Fuel cells have promise and the fuel is readily available.

And most will charge at night. Solar not really a factor at that point. Wind is commonly at dusk and dawn.

Do you drive an electric car? Or do you just badmouth that which you choose to use?

Just to be clear, I support use of Wind and Solar. I don't support the use of Tax Dollars to favor Wind and Solar over other forms of electrical power generation.

The pResident vetoed the pipeline because it is something conservatives wanted. He doesn’t care about the greens or anything else, if Conservatives want ‘A’ he will not let ‘A’ happen. He will demand ‘B’ instead and then bitch he didn’t get his way. He is a vindictive a$$hole.

Precisely -- and that goes for ALL forms of energy generation. Federal subsidies are how we get crap companies that merely serve to make a few people wealthy while no one benefits from the alleged new technology.

I don't find anything in the Constitution that enables the Federal Government to spend tax revenue to subsidize industrial development, much less continued operation, of any sort. It's the very definition of graft.

Nah, Sarah, follow the money. Warren Buffet has a HUGE stake in this decision. With the XL Pipeline, oil would no longer be transported on Buffets' railroads.,p> Cui Bono..??

Go figure....the environuts are just cover for what's really going on...
