An Islamic tribunal, launched in Dallas last year to settle civil disputes among the growing Muslim population, is drawing quarrels over its use of Shariah law.
Opponents fear it would open the door to extreme practices and corporal punishment linked to Shariah law in certain Muslim-majority countries. Still others argue it would replace the U.S. Constitution.
But organizers say the panel of arbitrators issues nonbinding decisions on matters such as business disputes and religious divorces. They note its parallels with Jewish rabbinical courts and Catholic tribunals.
The very word “Shariah” invokes backlash from those who don’t understand it and use it as a “catch phrase for fear-mongering against Islam and Muslims,” said Hadi Jawad, a Dallas businessman and a Muslim.

Writing from Florida, lawyer Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel feared “slow, systematic jihad.”
No, Shariah leaves absolute horror and slavery in every instance it is implemented....just look at the islamic world and know in every instance we do not want it in a free country. As a woman I sure as heck do not think that evil belongs here and it needs to be fought tooth and nail.
I really don’t care. If all parties agree to the tribunal and to abide by the decision, what difference does it make?
To expound further, if all parties agree to abide by the ruling of a chicken, by where it craps on a grid - I’m totally fine with that.
After all, civil law is simply a manner of resolving civil disputes - those disputes are often settled outside of court, and not necessarily exactly as law would dictate.
If the chicken poops, and the dispute is ended...I’m fine with that crappy process.
I’m guessing that community property thing gives Muslims problems. Texas is a no fault divorce state. Sharia can’t abide allowing females equal rights?

I think to counter this the good citizens of Dallas need to double down on products like ham, bacon, sausage and start flying them over the city - rent those sky planes and just start dropping tons of pork on the city areas (particularly where there are heavy concentrations of Muslims)...FREE food don’t you understand? That’s what I meant. Dallas malls would be safe. Waco and Houston malls and Highland mall in Austin should be safe, too. However, I wouldn’t set foot in Highland at 12 noon for any amount of money.
Compare that to most Christian gatherings. People involved pray for unbelievers to attend and hear the message of Christ. There is nothing in our religion to hide.
