At least 30 people were injured, including two critically, Tuesday morning when a Metrolink commuter train collided with a tractor-trailer truck on the tracks in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles.
Oxnard police Sgt. Denise Shadinger said the crash was reported at 5:44 a.m. Shadinger said the truck became fully engulfed in flames. Authorities are describing the scene as a multi-casualty incident.
Details of the injuries were not immediately clear.

In 2008 there was a derailment in Chatsworth that killed 25 people..a Metrolink train hit another train because the Metrolink driver was too busy texting instead of paying attention..Thankfully this train derailment no one died, a miracle considering the kind of impact that occurred
Why have they not released his name or the company he was driving for?
I could be wrong, but I'd bet a cup of coffee the driver of the truck which injured 28 people, including four critically was an illegal alien.
Most legitimate drivers would never ever flee a collision scene and it would easy to ID a legitimate driver involved.
What was the drivers ID and what company was he driving for?

Betcha government city and state officials are wringing their hands trying to figure out how to keep his ID secret, as well as the company who hired him.
The driver of a truck that caused a train derailment Tuesday morning injuring nearly 30 people, four critically, was arrested on a felony hit-and-run charge, police said.
Jose Alejandro Sanchez Ramirez was taken into custody in connection with the crash that happened before 6 a.m. on the Ventura County Line tracks between Camarillo and Oxnard, about 70 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Some reports have Jose Alejandro Sanchez Ramirez, 54, being from Yuma, Arizona and allegedly has a valid commercial drivers license. Of course this would not be the first time MSM claimed someone was from CA, AZ, NV or whatever, when they certainly were not.
I'm very suspect of this guys legal status due to the fact why in would a legal commercial truck driver flee such a brutal scene where dozens are left injured, with at least 4 critical?
They're broadcasting interviews of witnesses now, who are saying the entire area is like a 3rd world. They can all thank government for that.
I guess the most logical question would be, why did he leave the scene..according to police, he was found about a mile away, walking around in a daze, so when police went to him and asked him if he was the truck owner he said yes and he was taken to the hospital..of course he had a valid drivers license, remember, the left wanted all illegals to have them so they can get them, especially here in California no problem
As far a Oxnard goes, it is like a 3rd world country over there..I passed through many months ago while driving up to Santa Barbara for my cousins wedding, Camarillo is a nice area but Oxnard, gang activity, it isn’t what it used to be, but it is considered one of the most populated areas in Ventura Country and yes its heavily Hispanic
His lawyer will interpret that he was in shock and confused and decided to flee the scene leaving the busted up injured to deal with it themselves.
His attorney will file lawsuits because the RR warning were not in Spanish and failed to depict pictures of a cho-cho. He's now suffering stress and other physiological issues and is considering additional lawsuits.
The LA Times reports the truck was stuck some period of time before the train hit it based on the crossing gates not being demolished so he may have left the area when the train approached. The police are investigating that he may have been drunk when the truck got stuck. He was taken to the hospital before he was arrested and I hope they did an alcohol and tox screen there.
Wife now saying not his fault. Truck stalled on tracks because the company he works for gave him a crappy truck to drive.
No doubt the lawyers are circling like vulture. se habla espanol?
Hearing this idiot was somehow possibly crossing parallel with the tracks at the crossing.

He was on his cell phone when he was found nearly 2 miles away from the scene, after fleeing the scene..Cops are not saying anything yet about that. They sure seem tight lipped about this guy, as if this were some kind of high security confidential event.
Oh you can bet they will somehow blame the truck calling it faulty..yeah it was so faulty that it just so happened it stopped functioning right on the train tracks, not before, but right there on the spot..how convenient..and instead of staying at the scene, he walked away, not just walked away, but was found more than a mile away from the scene

Shouldn’t take to long to figure out who the tractor-trailer belonged to.
Expensive but being worked on. SoCal just got a billion from the feds. It wont be all for grade separation but as tracks are readied for high speed rail it more and more crossings will be done.
I have lived here for 46 years, and have occasionally crossed the tracks in that area.
Apparently truck driver Ramirez was crossing the tracks and meant to turn on an adjacent road, but turned onto the tracks. I can understand how that can happen. He continued driving hoping to find a way off, and along came the train. What I would call ‘bad timing’ - - -
Ramirez is from out of state, unfamiliar with the area where he made the turn. I realize familiar or not, we are expected to be aware and drive correctly, but in 2 seconds, confusion can happen.
I am just now looking at Wednesday’s ‘Ventura County Star.’
To quote,’ At least five other crashes have occurred at the Oxnard site of Tuesday’s train accident, which local officials say might have been prevented by a proposed bridge crossing in the works for years.’
The crossing at Fifth St. and Rice Ave. is part of a main access route to the Port of Hueneme (pronounced Why-nee-me). This crossing is ‘notorious for having an incident - almost on an annual basis.’
Tuesday’s accident left 4 with critical injuries, and by Wed., 2 were removed from critical. No fatalities.
I was on the 101 Ventura Freeway about 5PM, getting on in Calabasas, going west. Which means towards the direction of the wreck, miles ‘up’ the freeway.
A ‘normal’ 25 minute or so drive to my destination - the Carmen exit in Camarillo - took at least 70 minutes, but never passing an accident. Mostly the speed was 10 MPH - stopping, then back to 10, 15 MPH - - -
Then I remembered the train accident that occurred about 5:40am and thought perhaps people took to their cars because the trains weren’t running. Well, there were multiple factors causing the traffic jam.
In all these years I have not seen the freeway like that. I’ve seen it bad, but not that bad. Like on Sundays around 2 pm on. Folks coming back from vacation spots and weekend get-aways and returning to Los Angeles and environs. Traffic moves slow, but steady.
Regular train passengers/commuters around here are all having their own and differing reaction to the crash. Some toss it off and others are very worried - about further train train travel.
If I may - some major things went wrong - that’s why it’s called an ‘accident.’
