GOP FCC members want to delay net neutrality vote

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission should delay its vote on net neutrality rules for at least a month after releasing Chairman Tom Wheeler's proposal for public comment, the commission's two Republican members said Monday.

Instead of voting on Wheeler's net neutrality proposal on Thursday, as scheduled, the FCC should open his 332-page proposal to the public "and allow the American people a reasonable period of not less than 30 days to carefully study it," Commissioners Ajit Pai and Mike O'Rielly wrote in a joint statement.

Wheeler, part of the three-Democrat majority on the commission, immediately rejected the request, however. The FCC received more than 4 million public comments on net neutrality during the past year, and they "helped shape" his proposal," he wrote on Twitter. "It's time to act."

I would like to know when will the public be able to see the proposals? SO 5 appointed nitwits get to fundamentally transform the internet by approving 332 pages that are merely chapter 1 written by who the hell knows before anyone in “elected” government gets to weigh in? Unbelievable. After all the scandals and Obamacare and all this pass it to see what’s in it and obama and his minions get to do it once more !? I’m not surprised in the least but I am a little surprised that so little fuss is being made considering the ramifications. Amazingly is there any precedent when something like this is pushed through that it can later be thwarted or reneged on?!? Never seems to go down like that. Maybe the fairness doctrine from decades ago - but surely this is that same fight on steroids.

I’d be willing to bet the enemy has their new laws and regulations all printed up and ready to go. They’ve wanted this since Drudge broke Lewinsky...

Our local rag is filled with liberals heralding net neutrality as the one way to guarantee free speech on the net and protect us all from evil capitalist pigs. They have absolute faith that government control by 5 people (in this case 3) over the entire internet will lead to a glorious internet revolution.

The same people also have absolute faith that a government that can’t run a whorehouse in Nevada run their healthcare.

They plan to put a FCC warder aboard the Internet to be a gatekeeper

A Warder boarding the Internet is ANTI AMERICAN!

NO WARDER BOARDING THE INTERNET!

Oh I think this is very bad. But I’m sure our GOP Congress will put a quick stop to it. (sarc)

Glorious internet revolution, indeed! They were played on a flimsy premise, weren’t they? Lordy, they’re stupid, and neither they nor their precious government could successfully operate a whorehouse even if they ran it by hand!

Elections? Not for this:
"The FCC is directed by five commissioners appointed by the U.S. president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate for five-year terms, except when filling an unexpired term. The president designates one of the commissioners to serve as chairman. Only three commissioners may be members of the same political party. None of them may have a financial interest in any FCC-related business."
--Wikipedia entry

Why they aren't all democrats, I haven't a clue.

The rules will usher in a lengthy darkness, I fear. The youth will not stand for having their Internet activities interrupted, and that’s exactly what’s coming.
