Free society, free government, inalienable rights from God, the purpose of government, lessons from John Locke, Montesquieu, Glorious Revolution, . . . all of the terms from The Enlightenment are nearly unintelligible terms in 21st Century America.

Or indeed anywhere in Western Civilization. A new Dark Ages. With luck, there might be some oases of knowledge isolated here and there like medieval monasteries, or like Waldzell in 'The Glass Bead Game'.
