The Obama administration is taking measures to undercut Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus visit to the United States. Top officials, including Vice President Biden, are being sent away when the Israeli head of government delivers his address in March.
The friction between the Israel and the United States is looking more like a feud between the Soprano and Lupertazzi families (via Associated Press):
In what is becoming an increasingly nasty grudge match, the White House is mulling ways to undercut Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming trip to Washington and blunt his message that a potential nuclear deal with Iran is bad for Israel and the world.
There are limits. Administration officials have discarded the idea of President Barack Obama himself giving an Iran-related address to rebut the two speeches Netanyahu is to deliver during his early March visit. But other options remain on the table.
Among them: a presidential interview with a prominent journalist known for coverage of the rift between Obama and Netanyahu, multiple Sunday show television appearances by senior national security aides and a pointed snub of America's leading pro-Israel lobby, which is holding its annual meeting while Netanyahu is in Washington, according to the officials.
The administration has already ruled out meetings between Netanyahu and Obama, saying it would be inappropriate for the two to meet so close to Israel's March 17 elections. But the White House is now doubling down on a cold-shoulder strategy, including dispatching Cabinet members out of the country and sending a lower-ranking official than normal to represent the administration at the annual policy conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the officials said.
Vice President Joe Biden will be away, his absence behind Netanyahu conspicuous in coverage of the speech to Congress. Other options were described by officials, who spoke only on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss internal deliberations.
Netanyahu's plan for a March 3 address to a joint meeting of Congress has further strained already tense ties between the U.S. and Israel. Congressional Republicans orchestrated Netanyahu's visit without consulting the White House or State Department, a move the Obama administration blasted as a break in diplomatic protocol. Some Democratic lawmakers say they will boycott the speech.
U.S. officials believe Netanyahu's trip to Washington is aimed primarily at derailing a nuclear deal with Iran, Obama's signature foreign policy objective.
The Obama White House remains incredibly angry that Speaker of the House, John Boehner, invited Prime Minister Netanyahu to address Congress without coordinating with them. Then again, this is the same administration that described Mr. Netanyahu as chickens**t. Some Democrats have stated theyre skipping the address on March 3.
Netanyahu could checkmate with just one stunning revelation, if he has such to reveal.
Would an admission that Obama has personally threatened to have our military shoot Israeli jets from the sky if they attempt an attack on the Iranian nuke facilities such a revelation?
I suspect such a threat has been made, but I have no evidence of it.
Would the US rally behind such a revelation, or would it simply continue to be bread and circus? It should provoke an uprising, because it would have the US on the wrong side of God.
Benjamin Netanyahu doesn’t give a shit about what Obama thinks.
Disrespect for others has always been a hallmark of the liberal left.
Considering the panic at the White House I suspect there is a bombshell coming in Netanyahu’s speech.
Has there been any other president who has displayed such silliness due to an upcoming speech by the leader of a friendly nation.
This whole thing is to me like watching a kid with a long stick messing with a huge hornet’s nest that is hanging from the limb of a pine tree...kind of giving it some small taps at first, then raising his bet to some pokes, prods, and then a few strategically-placed stronger swats. The hornets (Obomination and his adminnies) are definitely agitated by now, a few of their scouts being sent out of the nest to ascertain the threat (PM Netanyahu and his speech that will blow the whole terrorism/Iran/ISIS situation wide open). The boy (the ‘threat’ of the upcoming speech) gives the nest another firm swat. Then his father (Netanyahu) gets up from the front porch and heads toward him, with a Mason jar full of gasoline. He throws the gas on the nest, then chunks the jar on the ground and grabs the boy and goes back toward the porch. The man gets his bow and a flaming arrow, shoots it into the nest, and FOOOMMM!!!
This speech will be a massive game-changer in our lives from now on. I believe it is going to finally set things in motion and propel this world with breakneck speed into the abysmal horrors of the Book of Revelation.
That would not surprise me, and it’s probably needed.
Watch for the left to find a pretext to cancel the speech. They really don’t the truth about nuclear Iran being spread.
I hope Boehner has the stones to invite some highly recognizable and honorable individual to sit in Biden’s usual chair. I’d lay in an extra supply of popcorn to enjoy while the lefties’ pizzing and moaning arose and crescendoed over THAT.
If Biden abandons his chair, put someone else, respectful of Israel, in it.
The MSM will not carry Bibi’s speech.
They will comment and mischaracterize after the fact.
I’m friends with a couple of Israeli Jews, and you are spot on!
Liberals hate conservative Jews. Some of the most liberal liberals are Jewish.
The term churlish comes to mind....
Hoping that C-span carries the speech live
If the Mossad has any damaging info on Obama and the Dems Bibi should bring it with him and announce during his speech he’s releasing it to the public via a website. He’ll have to do it that way because the press here will scramble to bury it and ignore it to protect their masters.
“Benjamin Netanyahu doesnt give a shit about what Obama thinks.”
LOL...agreed. BiBi is a Major league player and Omoron is a little t-ball player that is how far apart they are.
Obama could have his friends in Hamas and Hezbollah start another rocket attack right before Netanyahu is scheduled to leave. That might make it difficult for him to leave Israel - while his country is under attack.
Our anti-American president and our anti-American state department could probably hook that up - even fund it.
I truly would not put it past them.
We shall see....
I am wondering the same. The actions of the White House and the Dems make it seem like they are very afraid of what Netanyahu might say. And what would be the effect on the U.S. population if he does? If there so much anti-Israel and anti-Semitic sentiment that it would be brushed off?
It would have to be something for which Bibi has irrefutable evidence.
Another Townhall blog piece by fellow named Matt Vespa. I’ll call him Scooter.
Scooter seems to think that the issue is between two personalities.
Bibi’s goal is to inform the US Congress and citizens of the existential threat to Israel and by extension the increased threat to America. Quite simply, Bibi wants Israel to survive the threat posed by Obama’s administrations pro-islam stance in all it’s flavors.
Obama’s goal, while unstated but evident by connecting all his actions, is to undermine western civilization and reduce the USA to an impotent and impoverished giant ruled by a coalition of third world invaders and disaffected racial groups. Chaos is the end game, much as Alinsky’s dedication of his work to Lucifer clearly indicated.
In a nutshell leveling the playing field on par with the seventh century Islamic cultural. 1.5 billion muslims can’t be wrong after all.
