Eddie Ray Routh would say whatever it took to avoid going to jail, a medical expert testified Friday.[snip] When Routh was arrested on Feb. 2, 2013, he told officers that he had been feeling “paranoid” and “schizophrenic” all day. In that moment, Routh revealed that he was trying to avoid going to jail by claiming he was crazy, said Dr. Michael Arambula, a forensic psychiatrist.
“He was showing his hand already. In other words, he was trying to get out of what he had done,” Arambula testified Friday. [snip] “He was intoxicated at the time of the offense. Any time intoxication is present, the game is over” for the insanity defense [snip] On the day of the slayings, Routh was likely suffering from marijuana-induced psychosis, said Randall Price, a forensic psychologist. Stands to reason. The crucial factor is judgement. If you have that, you can adjust to all sorts of impairments. If you lose it, you are gone. I speak from the experience of my Dad in his late stages. He just carried on as though nothing was happening. He had no clue.
Someone crazy never says they are having an episode, they simply act out of the episode, period.
Always acting like the big responsible shot when doing his gang slaying and then when caught he says he is but a babe. Cannot have it both ways, being responsible shot and then irresponsible selectively.
My guess is jailhouse chow and no access to drugs led to what appears to be a 20-40 lb weight gain. With the testimony from the prosection psychiatrist, I sincerely hope the jury finds this piece of filth guilty.

Jailhouse chow will not give you enough calories to turn into a fat tub of lard like this man has. Someone is either feeding him psych drugs (which will), or he’s got a big fat store account in the prison canteen, (paid for by his VA benefits), and Routh is stuffing himself with honey buns.

Then it is more likely the latter. If the family of this piece of work had been upfront with Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield, both men may still be alive today. Routh’s family may not have put the gun in his hand or pulled the trigger, but they darned sure did nothing to take it out of his hand either. Two good and decent men died and THIS evil piece of filth still breathes. It’s just wrong on so many levels. Here’s hoping the jury doesn’t buy the ridiculous notion of ‘insanity’ (he is evil, not insane), convicts him and sends him to prison for the rest of his days. Other than a quickly applied death sentence, living out his days looking at striped sunlight is as good a sentence that can be handed down. Rant over.

What was the story behind this... Kyle was misguidedly attempting to help Routh by taking him out shooting? The official blame is all to Routh. But many people were unwise.
