In addition to canceling Joy Reids daytime show The Reid Report, which MSNBC sources confirmed to Mediaite earlier today, the network is also canceling Ronan Farrows show and moving Way Too Earlys Thomas Roberts back to a dayside role, anchoring a straight news show from 1-3 p.m. ET daily.
Neither Reid nor Farrow have been fired by the network. Reid will become MSNBCs national correspondent, producing original reporting for on air and online programming. Farrow is expected to host a new series of primetime specials for MSNBC and will be featured as a special correspondent across the networks schedule.
The change in daytime programming represents a conscious shift by the network away from more opinionated hosts and towards a more news-focused lineup. Following Morning Joe, José Díaz-Balarts show will air for two hours starting at 9 a.m., followed by Tamron Hall at 11, Andrea Mitchell at 12 and then Roberts from 1-3 p.m. each day.

Lolololol....oh this is too good
They aborted Joy Reid’s “Chancerous Vagina” show?
But...but...but...Ronan Farrow dared to investigate from deep inside the world of Bronies. He taught us the important truth about Bronies!!
He also covered historic, critical topics such as transgendered illegal aliens.
Who will MSNBC find now that one of their two major talents is leaving (Al Sharpton being the other)?
We’ll have to watch Rachael Mad-dog to get our news, now.
Their families and their dozen or so viewers will be deeply saddened.
When will MSNBC be cancelled?
Never
It exists to dispense talking points from the liberal elites to the field operatives.
And being owned by insanely profitable Comcast, it’s insulated from economics.
Good question, John; I think MSLSD has been a tax write-off for NBC for years.
OH NOES, now they are both unemployed..I hope they don’t go join ISIS
NBC is making room for Brian Williams. Will anybody care in six months?
Poor Ronan, all that studying and toiling in low paying jobs and learning his trade....and all for nought.
A damned shame for a kid that came up the hard way.
Canned !!! Oh the humanity !
.
Yes but they replaced it with Thomas Roberts’ Pustulent Pooty-Toot for two deadly hours.
Potato, Padildo. /archer
Oh my, I bet Fox News is breathing a huge sigh of relief right ab.....
sorry, can’t even get through it myself...
LOL, I know, I also grieve....
Those were the days.
I watch and sometimes DVR Morning Joe on MSNBC. It is like they know no one is watching and they are having brainstorming session on air.
Today Brzezinski talked about the grievances the Muslim fighters. It is a political awakening to colonialism directed against its former oppressors/ rulers and their resentment against the US because of Iraq for their suffering and destruction. He thinks we should help the countries that are in the region who are fighting them, retaliate for the dead of ours, but we should abstain.
We should avoid direct collision with Islamists. We should not label the enemy as Islamist. We are not the chief protagonist in the region, because if we are, we become the inheritors of the colonial era and even more hated than we are today.
That will later be their talking points: I betcha.
Sad news for the dozens of people (literally) who watch MSNBC. I’d love to see their advertising rate card right now; when you’re airing national shows that attract a smaller audience than many local radio programs, it takes a certain amount of chutzpah to approach advertisers, let alone convince them to pay good money to reach your micro audience.
The Ronan kid said it was ‘Witchcraft’ that got him terminated!
I really don’t think they have any profitability targets.
Comcast makes $7b a year or so in profit, and PMSNBC is just a vehicle to preach to regime partisans.
