On Monday's Morning Joe on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough suggested that having a literal interpretation of the Bible could lead Christians to violence in a similar manner as radical Islam. Oddly enough, Scarborough hoped to avoid being "torn to shreds online" by equating the two, but made the comparison anyway.
The morning's panel centered on the violence of ISIS and its undeniable ties to the tenets of Islam, but Scarborough felt compelled to find a link between Islam and Christianity. He said:
A very crude way to put it is, this would be the ultra fundamentalist Christians who believe every single word of the Bible has to be interpreted in the exact ways which could also lead to some violence.

Acapella... LOL
You must be acquainted with the church of Christ.
I do recall in incident outside of Waco where the maddened followers of David Koresh went on a rampage, killing and burning federal agents by the dozens...oh, wait, no, I guess that was the other way around. Wasn't it?
One is known by one's enemies, goes the saying, but one is especially known by one's imaginary enemies. Get help, Joe, you need it.
Mohammed on an average day:
Haven’t heard them but have heard some televangelists when I was surfing the channels ...
Ya, I know, was just being funnie back .... :)
I’m sure she was ... I meant my post in jest because there are some people .....
So, Joe.....when was the last time a radical Christian killed an atheist for not believing in this country?
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his great [strong; mighty] power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devils evil tricks [schemes]. 12 [For] Our fight [conflict; struggle] is not against people on earth [flesh and blood] but against the rulers and authorities and the powers [or cosmic powers/rulers] of this worlds darkness [darkness], against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world [realm; places].
13 That is why you need to [For this reason,] put on Gods full armor. Then on the day of evil [persecution generally or end-time tribulation] you will be able to stand strong [keep your ground; resist the enemy]. And when you have finished the whole fight after you have done/accomplished everything], you will still be standing. 14 So stand strong [or ready], with the belt of truth tied around your waist and the body armor [breastplate] of right living [a righteous life; or Gods own righteousness/justice; righteousness]. 15 On your feet wear the Good News [Gospel] of peace to help you stand strong [for firm footing; or to be fully prepared]. 16 And also [in addition to all this; or in all circumstances] use the shield of faith with which you can stop [extinguish] all the burning arrows [fiery darts] of the Evil One. 17 Accept [Receive; or Take] the helmet of salvation, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word [message] of God. 18 Pray in [or in dependence on] the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers [prayers and requests], asking for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready [alert] and never give up [with all perseverance]. Always pray for all Gods people [the saints].
19 Also pray for me that when I speak [open my mouth], God will give me words so that I can tell the secret [mystery] of the Good News [Gospel] without fear [confidently; boldly]. 20 For this Good News [ for which] I am an ambassador in prison [chains; 3:1]. Pray that I will speak it [or for him; or in him] without fear [boldly; confidently], as I should.
You should join us.
Joe has probably never opened the Bible. Let us know when that happens Joe. We will be waiting to hear all about it. Idiot.
I can only think of two places in the New Testament where people are excluded from salvation.
One is where Jesus declares that one who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. I honestly don’t know exactly what that means but have been told by those who understand these things better than me, that if you wonder about your having committed that sin that means you haven’t.
Also the Apostle Paul states about certain sinners, particularly those who practice homosexuality, that they will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
“Also the Apostle Paul states about certain sinners, particularly those who practice homosexuality, that they will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.”
... he included more than homos in that passage...
Kill ‘em all. Zebedee 12:8
“which could also lead to some violence.”
In his world the “could lead to some violence” is more important than the satanic violence already happening in the Muslim religion.
Dear Joe,
If, before the next time you run your mouth is this direction, you will find the chapters and verses that Christians might misconstrue as telling them to carry on the way these muslims are, you just MIGHT have some credibility.
Until then, you don’t know what you’re talking about, and should keep your comments limited to the fields you are familiar with.
Thanks in advance for keeping your mouth shut, BCC
Yes, several times.
Having a literal interpretation of the Bible would cause me to punch Joe Scarmoron in the nose.
Not all religion. All religions EXCEPT THEIRS.
Theirs is secular humanism.
Jesus does say that the entire Bible which includes the Old Testament is totally accurate even to every dot and crossed T.
The Old Testament does indicate that we deserve punishment for our sins but Jesus declares us not guilty because he himself takes our guilt upon himself. If I read that correctly we still may suffer some consequences of our actions but they do not condemn us.
This a.m., I was thinking about how liberals go on and on about how Jesus "hung around" with thieves, prostitutes, and all kinds of reprobates.
Well, there's a reason why he did.
They were sinners as we all are.
The difference is that Jesus ALWAYS said: "Go and sin no more"
I've never read an instance where Jesus patted people on the head and said: "Cool story, bro, keep on sinning!"
Quite the opposite.
I bet that the scumballs He "hung around with" STOPPED sinning.
I can only imagine it must have transformed people by being in the presence of God made flesh.
They must have felt like hungry people, looking for spiritual nourishment.
