Yet of all of the secessionist movements from the Atlantic to the Urals, none imperils a vital interest of the United States. None is really our business. And none justifies a war with Russia.
Indeed, what is it about this generation of Americans that makes us such compulsive meddlers in the affairs of nations we could not find on a map? Consider if you will our particular affliction: Putin paranoia.

Yes, we ought not be paranoid about open threats to nuke Poland and Ukraine. Right?
Pat nails it again.
Wow, you’re a fast reader.
Pat Buchanan is not a conservative.
Your fanaticism against Putin would be better placed fighting ISIS and helping to unite Christians.
We don’t want or need to go to war with Russia over the Ukraine. Putin was always going to take the Crimea. He is not going to give up that Baltic military port. The people of Crimea are largely Russian speakers and orthodox. They want to be with Russia. So be it. We will end up with two Urkraines. Life will go on. The sooner we broker a peace agreement that holds the better.
In this screed, he appears to be a feudalist.
That’s what Chamberlain said.
RIGHT
Did you read this snip from Pat?
And when we are warned that Putin wishes to restore that USSR of 1974, and to reassemble that Soviet Empire of yesterday, have we really considered what that would require of him?
To restore the USSR, Putin would have to recapture Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, an area the size of the United States.
To resurrect the Soviet Empire, Putin would have to invade and occupy Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, the Czech How far along is Putin in re-establishing the empire of the czars and commissars? He has reannexed Crimea, which is roughly the size of Vermont, and which the Romanovs acquired in the 18th century.
Yet almost daily we hear the din from Capitol Hill, "The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!"
Going to war with Russia over the Ukraine would be well insane. Hey that kind of rhymes. :-)
Pat’s wrong as usual. Ever heard of the Eurasian Union?
There are other ways to rebuild empires other than brute force. Anyone who has read Sun Tzu’s treatise “The Art Of War” knows that full well.
And what’s happening in Europe right now is a repeat of Eastern Europe being carved up by the Teutonic and Soviet blocs, with Ukraine (the victim of the Holdomor) at the center right now. All because of the impotence projected from the US by the leaders in DC at present.
Yeah; it’s just fine that the libs broke all the USA’s promises to the Ukraine, isn’t it, and got them to divest its nuclear arsenal so Putin’s threat of nukes would have teeth. (/s)
Don’t start pinging me and stalking me.
I just didn't want you to miss it. For all your personal McCainitas attacks on us 'Putinistas', you of all people shouldn't get huffy.
Lets get back on the subject. Isn't Pat's article persuasive in reevaluating our Russia animosity only strategy.
Seriously, lay off the stalking/pinging, creating a personal grudge and carrying it from one thread to another thing.
So what? Conservatives are weak and useless. Their time is past. Now is the age of Libertarianism.
Correction - the quicker THEY broker a peace agreement the better. None of our business.

I think he is a build America conservative.
