Shortly after 2 a.m. on April 6, 2010, a guard at Salinas Valley State Prison noticed Alan Ager's cellmate trying to stuff something under a mattress. It was Ager, blood trickling from his mouth and a cloth noose tied around his neck.
The convicted child molester died 10 days later without regaining consciousness, his death earning his cellmate a second life sentence.
California state prisoners are killed at a rate that is double the national average and sex offenders like Ager account for a disproportionate number of victims, according to an Associated Press analysis of corrections records.

BTW, I love love love your tag line! I keep making the same point to my mother when we gripe via telephone about the Muslim-in-Chief, although I’ve been quoting $1.89 as the price.
You may be on to something.
Good one
Sure, but I think we have two people here “who need killing”.
Yes we should cry a freaking river.
Instead of the people of the US and each state executing these people who deserve execution, we give the job to criminals who torture and kill and prison guards who turn their backs.
We are cowards.
I thought they kept chomos separate from the general population in the joint. They are not popular to say the least.
But there’s double secret life sentences.
To me, this article smacks of sympathy for the sex offender.
Remember when the Clintons were fresh on the scene & gays in the military was the hot topic du jour? The American public was largerly outraged in NOT in support of that. Then what happened? Will & Grace, various gay characters in movies & TV, many athletes & actors lauded as “heroic” for coming out of the closet and.....wait for it.....countless magazine & newspaper articles detailing the plight of the poor American homosexual. 25 years later, gay sex is now “normal”, celebrated, and no one bats an eye at gays. This tripe here was the same thing: a thinly-veiled attempt at humanizing the sex offender, putting his picture, his story, and his son’s picture out there cuz, hey, creepy pervs are just people too!
Mark my words: in 25 years, this will be no big deal.
I would be cheering this, if it weren’t for the men proved innocent of the charges years later.
Turns out that kids can be coerced into testifying by their mothers against an ex and that is fed with CPS. A decade later, the kid recants, DNA proves them innocent and they’re still held.
I wish I could love this ‘justice’, but I can’t.

EXCELLENT point!
[ And this is a bad thing because? ]
It could be a bad thing should the government decide to use it’s NSA software to plant unsavory things on your hard drive and then raid your house....
That would be a concern that should concern all of us.

Alan Lawrence Ager, 59, was charged in Marin Superior Court with one count of sexual abuse and two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with a child under age 14 . . .
Marin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Crain declined to provide details about the crime or victim, other than to say the child was not related to Ager.
“It was ongoing, meaning it happened more than once,” Crain said. “It’s early in the investigation and our main concern right now is to protect the victim.”
Ager, who is being held in the Marin County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail, is accused of molesting the boy between Oct. 1, 2005 and Dec. 25, 2006 in two or more jurisdictions, according to the charges. The lewd acts allegedly occurred on Christmas Day.

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with your comment, just providing context. As far as I’m concerned, we should keep all inmates safe, but we should also lock up predators forever. It’s hard to have sympathy for a pervert who harms little boys.
Thank you. You and I are in distinct minority here.
Better they take their punishment in THIS life.
Sounds like there is at least some honor among theives
thanks.
I’m sorry, no prisoner should be able harm another prisoner in prison.
I don’t mind making prisons dismal enough that inmates commit suicide and leaving them means to do so (strong sheets on the bed and sturdy fixtures in ceiling, for instance) but none of the other inmates should be able to hurt them.
Who says there’s never any good news??
