ORLANDO, FL Deputies and state regulators aggressively raided Orlando-area barbershops, roughing up innocent staff and handcuffing them on the floor in an effort to check if the barbers had acquired government permission to legally cut hair.
A series of these raids has recently come to light, one of which is making its way through the litigation process in the federal court system. This was the raid of the Strictly Skills barbershop in Pine Hills, Florida, in which government agents warrantlessly stormed in the establishment with as many as 25 customers and 6 staff members present.

I read about it on FR. I can’t recall who posted it.
I think Floriduh is also where you have to have a license to be a florist and the “Florist’s Assn.” make sure that no one else gets a license. Not a place I’d like to call home.
These moronic jackboots need to face resistance.
They also need to face jurors who refuse to convict those that meet them with resistance.
Jurors hold the power.
Barbers are notorious tax cheats. They will often not enter cash transactions into their tills.
That’s likely what this is really about.
Given the sad state of our finances, and the unconstitutional guilty-until-proven-innocent tactics of the IRS, I salute any and all tax cheats. More power to them and may they never come to grief.
Give us a reasonable flat tax, flat from dollar zero to billions per year income and I will turn in tax cheats myself!
In which case wouldn’t it be a different story here, a story of a sting (e.g. an investigator comes in as a customer and watches how his payment is handled). Not a story of harassment.
“Barbers are notorious tax cheats. They will often not enter cash transactions into their tills.”
This is the only thing keeping many businesses open.
The last thing the federal givernment NEEDS is MORE money to waste..
Cheating is what the federal givernment DOES...
It’s exactly what they do..
They cheat when they raise the money and they cheat when they spend the money..
They outright STEAL the money from citizens..
Theft is what federal givernment does..
Guess they got a haircut...
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.
Channel 9 has learned a new court ruling means deputies involved in raids at Orange County barber shops will stand trial.
A federal Court of Appeals ruled every officer involved in the SWAT-style raids in Pine Hills violated the barbers’ civil rights.
[...]
In the end, there was no criminal activity and no unlicensed barbers at Strictly Skillz.

Considering the heavy-handedness of the state and feds on even the relative minutia of matters, can you really expect anything different here?
The government has replaced the mob.
When you have para-military swat units and there is really no justification for them you then have to put them to use somehow. Otherwise some politician might rightfully cut the swat budget. Going after jaywalkers is likely the next use of these wannabe soldiers.
my new Governor wants to end state licensing of barbers and nail salons and stuff
And dix...
As I recall, they busted a barber shop that was secretly running as a private strip club serving liquor without a license in “Crime Hills”. Perhaps this is an earlier, less detailed report of the same place?
(If you’re not familiar with Pine Hills, it is “heavily Amish” and known by locals as “Crime Hills”.)
They're not giving enough to government?
Maybe government should regulate barber shops more. Maybe install surveillance cameras over each barber chair? Or monitor their bank accounts and sit them down for yearly IRS interview/interrogations.
The mob is still kicking themselves in the a$$ for not thinking of red light and speeding cams first. They coulda been billionaires the first year!
