I didn't know there was "AR-15 rifle and AR-15 ammo"; my old 2005 Bushmaster Type 21-S Carbon Fiber Pistol 5.56mm/.223cal, Serial #D080xx wasn't picky. It ate everything I fed it, in 5.56mm and .223cal.

Last night, it was -3° with a -25° Windchill; tonite’s going to be even worse at -5° to -10°, and -30° to -40° Windchill, as the wind’s non-stop at 45-55mph. Hey, it’s just winter.

I am looking at getting a new deer rifle any suggestions as to what’s the best ones right now?

They’re also getting ready to reclassify and may try to pull exemptions for the SIG Sauer SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace, and the SlideFire/BumpFire stocks, according to what my FFL’s heard from his ATF sources. If that happens, it isn’t going to go over well at all.

Remy 700 in .308 was always one of the standards, until they had the trigger recall problem. If you find one, look at the trigger, per the photos in the linked article. All of ours have the non-XMP trigger group, and are fine to use.

If you want an all-around light weight short action rifle, I’d probably go with the .308

I’m not sure how much these are going for now, but a good value for the money, I think - if you are looking for something not too expensive.
