I am looking at getting a new deer rifle any suggestions as to what’s the best ones right now?

Remy 700 in .308 was always one of the standards, until they had the trigger recall problem. If you find one, look at the trigger, per the photos in the linked article. All of ours have the non-XMP trigger group, and are fine to use.

That new 26 Nosler looks like it would be a nice rifle.

If you want an all-around light weight short action rifle, I’d probably go with the .308
