If you are a student of ancient military history or actually an action movie buff you know the significance of the number 300. It is a number associated with a brave stand made by Spartan warriors led by their king, Leonidas. They stood against a numerically superior force but wrought much violence and death against the invading Persian Army of Xerxes, until they were betrayed. Could it be a modern day episode of the brave 300 playing out before our eyes?
In case you havent heard, unlike the characterization of President Obama on Wednesday, ISIS is not on the defense and their morale is certainly not low. ISIS has taken a western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi not far from Ramadi. Nearby al-Baghdadi is an Iraqi base, al-Asad, where 300 Marines are training Iraqi forces.

I am thinking the U.S. taxpayer is being set up. A valiant fight by our marines? A couple of KIA? The masses will be calling for revenge.
But the Marines wouldn’t be there if we had any sense. They are being asked to sacrifice themselves for no good reason.
ISIS could take the Pentagon in an afternoon with their sissified cowardice. I actually am serious. I bet 250 ISIS fighters could take the Pentagon and hold it hostage within 30 minutes.
There’s some abominable trolling at his site in the comments. Obots for sure.
The Marines at Chosin had orders to win. Our Marines today do not.
The Charge of the Light Brigade. Wondered when someone was going to post that. :)

ISIS had a run-in with a pair of A-10s a few weeks ago and the results weren’t pretty. The Warthogs mowed down several dozen terrorists, until ISIS decided to engage with some ancient SA-7 MANPADS. Guess ISIS didn’t get the memo that first-gen MANPADS are ineffective against front-quarter targets dispensing advanced flares.
When the SA-7s missed their marks and the A-10s sent a few more terrorists to their Virgins, the remaining fighters decided to call it a day. They executed a military maneuver know as The Big Skeedaddle, and left their dead and wounded on the battlefield. We need to turn the SOF teams loose, create a giant kill box across western Iraq and much of Syria and deploy every available A-10.
“They arent 10 feet tall. This is basically the USMC against the Crips on a road trip. God help them if they ever take on 300 Marines, even without the horrendous fire support our guys will have. ISIS isnt the Japanese or Chinese army, they arent the NVA or VC.”
But ISIS has one advantage over the Marines: they dont have obama as their commander in chief.
Just do a little search for location...
“Anbar province is just west of Baghdad, meaning a decisive ISIS victory would put militants on the footsteps of the Iraqi capital. It’s home to the strategic Ayn al-Assad Air Base, which came under attack Friday.
Talking about that battle, Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said 20 to 25 people — most, if not all, of whom were wearing Iraqi military uniforms and were led by suicide bombers — attacked the nearly 25-square-mile base.

“It looks like (ISIS militants) at least got to the outer base limits,” Kirby said.
At least 13 Iraqi soldiers died in the assault, said al-Gaoud, which ended with Iraqi ground forces killing all the attackers.”

the link is for the index page so it may not be up there tomorrow. Hate the new formats. They stink.
God bless you. You and every member of our military make me feel completely honored and humbled to be an American.
Remember that the Iraqis asked for us to come back. The Marines are training the Iraqis who lost 13 in the attack. The daesh were 8 suicide bombers + 16 others, some in Iraqi uniform. God only knows what the Marines’ rules of engagement are.
Sitting her in the comfort and security of my home I feel our Marines would love to pick ‘em off like a carnival game. However, if it was my son, husband, brother, etc. over there I’d be worried sick.
her=here
I guess I think that when the Iraqis asked us to leave, we should have left.
I do not see a national interest there.
The fact that they got to the base, and took over a near-by town doesn't sound like "No big deal" to me either.
I have no doubt that "300 Marines" is a force to be reckoned with-that they can handle any situation that might arise.
What causes concern is the current leadership.
Prayers for our military.
After watching one cycle of your posted gif, I felt a strange disturbance in “the Force”.
I may just have read the first ping from my gaydar
Yes, you’re very right.
They’ll be known as the Iraqi 300 and it’ll be interesting to see how things go.
Very epic.
The members of ISIS that survive will get visas to migrate to the US.
make sure the Marines have bullets. the way this president acts, he just might not supply them.
sweety just remember: i’ve got my finger on the nuc aimed at israel. let me know when your ready for me to push the button. we can laugh all the way to our virgins.
