The federal judge who oversaw Detroit's historic bankruptcy case ruled on Thursday that the nearly $178 million charged to the city by law firms and consultants for fees and expenses was reasonable.
U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Steven Rhodes said he based his decision mainly on the complexity of the bankruptcy case filed in July 2013 as well as substantial reductions that the firms agreed to make in their bills.
"The city is now on a path to success precisely because of the expertise, skill, commitment, endurance, personal sacrifice, civility and proficiency of all of the professionals in the case, including most certainly those whose fees are subject to review in this opinion," the judge wrote.

Almost buy one, get one.
Ah yeah, right. “Reasonable” from one lawyer to another. Nonsense.
legalized embezzlement. Pure and simple.
I wonder, do the lawyers who blessed everything Detroit did in winding up bankrupt have to give their fees back now?
More government mandated redistribution of wealth from taxpaying citizens to members of the elite ruling class.
Screw the creditors and give to the lawyers. Yes, that certainly helps the overall economy and took a lot of expertise to come up with.
...and a few of those mill are on their way to the judge’s offshore account.
“The city is now on a path to success precisely because of the expertise, skill, commitment, endurance, personal sacrifice, civility and proficiency of all of the professionals in the case..........”
Just wait until the cities “leadership” gets their hands on that plan, they have ways of derailing a lot of good plans, lining their own pockets and winding up in jail. All to show that reasonable price they paid. (My prediction)
What “personal sacrifice” ?????
When someone makes 50 million, there is no personal sacrifice.
Crap like this is why Detroit was in bankruptcy in the first place. Duh.
