HEADQUARTERS MARINE CORPS, WASHINGTON — The Marine Security Force left the American embassy in Yemen for the movement to the airfield as part of the "ordered departure" with only personal weapons. All crew served weapons were destroyed at the embassy prior to movement. None of them were 'handed over' in any way to anyone. The destruction of weapons at the embassy and the airport was carried out in accordance with an approved destruction plan.
Upon arrival at the airfield, all personal weapons were rendered inoperable in accordance with advance planning. Specifically, each bolt was removed from its weapons body and rendered inoperable by smashing with sledgehammers. The weapons bodies, minus the bolts, were then separately smashed with sledgehammers. All of these destroyed components were left at the airport -- and components were scattered; no usable weapon was taken from any Marine at Sana'a airport.
To be clear: No Marine handed a weapon to a Houthi, or had one taken from him.

I work with a retired USMC Lt. Col. He said that this type of action is at the command of either the state department or the ambassador. He related that he knew of a US Ambassador who demanded the Marine Guard not carry any weapons or have any at the Embassy. The Commandant of the Corps pulled out the entire Marine guard force for that embassy and told the ambassador that his marines don’t guard without weapons.
Chalk this one up to 0bh wanting to give up the 3rd US embassy to the enemies of this country.

The Marines did NOT "run away". They were ORDERED out by the US State Department acting (presumably) on the orders of the Secretary of State and ultimately the President. The military in these United States operates under the control of civilian authorities. We do not have a "military regime" and will not short of a military coup.
What’s your point...that the Marines did not destroy their weapons and high-tail it out of the country on John Kerry’s orders?
Who gave them Yemen? We never had Yemen, we are talking about a handful of Marines who guarded an embassy.
Why were the Marines not on a military flight with F-18s overhead?
A commercial flight?
Why not a charter at least?
