You guys have this perceived notion that the USMC is full of hardened tough guys. I got news for all of you and I hate to smash your hopes, but the USMC has been sanitized of all killer instincts within the last 20 years of rampant unchecked liberal policies on the military. Some of you out there should be wondering why we haven’t had a military success since WW2. These leadership and military failures can be traced directly to your elected official’s and the men we put in the White Hut. It’s bad, it’s so bad, that I felt in my last year in the military that I had to watch every word I said and the training that I planned couldn’t be too aggressive because someone may get hurt and write their Senator. I’m telling you folks— before you rush to want to put ground troops back in Iraq or take on the Russian’s we need military reform now.

I specifically did not allow my son to join the Marines because of what you wrote. I would not let him serve under Obama. I love my son.

I’m Oscar Mike.

Personally, I don't want to put troops back in Iraq or take on the Russians, but I understand what you are saying.

I also think the problem is much bigger than military reform. We don't have enough "real" men to fill the boots of the real Marines Corps. And that goes for all the armed services... We're a nation of wussies.

We couldn't do what this country did back in WW2... because we just don't have the collective courage, determination, willpower... or moral fiber.

There are plenty of great Marines in service. They just don’t go around killing our ‘friends.’ Don’t blame our tactical forces for strategic failures. Your definition of military success is flawed if you think we haven’t had any success. The problem isn’t the forces on the ground; it’s the people commanding them.

I am proud to know many Marines and other service members and they are more than competent. I have seen the decline in our military for 30 years, but I don’t see it in the troops. Our forces are more capable now than any time since WWII. It’s not their fault that the leadership abandons them and keeps them from winning.

Blaming those on the ground denies the fact that the country as a whole is responsible for the failures. Troops don’t set policy; they follow the orders of their lawfully appointed leaders.

Sorry, but your remarks are so untrue! The Marines I served with in Vietnam were tough! The Politics of destruction take away the right to fight as trained. My son has had two tours of duty in Afhaganistan. He is a Marine and believes in killing the enemy. Your thinking has been sanitized my friend.

frosty, man it’s upsetting to read and try to understand what you wrote. When I left basic and went to Nam I can honestly state that I was in the best shap of my life and that was after playing football thru college and high school. We were ready warriors for sure. To bad that even than the politicians meddled with how to effectively defeat the enemy.
