Tenn. Republican Committee votes against closed primary elections

The Tennessee Republican Executive Committee has, at least for now, closed the door on a resolution supporting statewide closed primaries.

The committee met Saturday to consider passage of the proposed closed primary resolution, but the measure failed. Twenty-nine members of the Republican Executive Committee voted in favor of the resolution, while 37 committee members voted against it.

If the Primary is closed many of the Democrats, already knowing who their own Candidate will be, temporarily change their registrations and vote in the Republican primaries instead of the Democrat primaries.

Making people actually physically show up at the courthouse to register to vote or to change their party affiliation would stop a lot of those shenanigans.

Makng people physically show up at the courthouse to register to vote or change registration would be a burden on the Welfare voter, don’t you know...
