A group of Democrats in the House of Representatives are circulating a petition asking Republican Speaker John Boehner to postpone the March 3 speech by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to a joint meeting of Congress, Bloomberg reported on Monday.
As members of Congress who support Israel, we share concern that it appears that you are using a foreign leader as a political tool against the president, states the letter, which is being circulated among lawmakers by Representatives Keith Ellison, Steve Cohen and Maxine Waters.
The three started sending the petition to fellow lawmakers last week, said Mike Casca, a spokesman for Ellison of Minnesota.
The names of all lawmakers signing it wont be released until later this week, he told Bloomberg.
While the petition asks Boehner to delay the speech, it stops short of declaring that members signing wont attend.
Netanyahus speech has become a point of contention not just between Israelis and Americans, but also between Republicans and Democrats.

I have no doubt that Netanyahu will reveal the true state of Iran’s nuclear weapons program. I trust he’ll also have some solid info on the ICBM capabilities.
That is the clincher. As Netanyahu says; Iran doesn’t need an ICBM to hit Israel. That’s for their other enemies.
Amen! FR wins and hopefully America does too by hearing from PM Netanyahu.
Thanks. ;-)
You’re on. Have yet to donate this quarter, and as much I detest the Bonehead, I think he won’t cave on this one. I don’t hope I’m wrong but we will see.
Senator Cohen? Alexander and Corker are bad enough...Cohen has to be a no, no!
Cuck Fongress
Steve Cohen is one more nasty piece of work.
Since the arguments against Netanyahu speaking are based in large part on not following protocol, it’s only fair to observe that it isn’t protocol for one chamber to interfere with the other chambers work.
It’s a handshake deal...not even a real deal....The president can’t unitarily make any deal with another country. Obama’s crazy.
You betcha! I just read (on a another thread) that Bibi is doubling down on his intention to speak to Congress.
Go, Bibi, go! Tell it like it is! Speak truth to the lies we’re being fed, daily.
(This will be some of the best FReeper bucks ever spent!)
If it looks like Boehner will cave, we need an alternate site like right now.
Somewhere here, the day before: March 2 is Texas’ birthday, Sam Houston’s, too.
I say we have it in San Antonio, at the Alamadome, with Cruz presiding. Those reps and sens who can’t make it can web-ex their way in.
Ellison is a raghead. Waters is a loon. I wouldn’t worry too much about their goofy “petition”.
I couldn’t agree more and happy to hear BiBi is doubling down to speak to Congress.
.....” Bibi is doubling down on his intention to speak to Congress”.....
He needs to IMO....the fact the Demorats are petitioning Boehner to stop his visit evidences the enemy within....again!
Whatever deal Obam is attempting to pull is “bad” since everything Internationally he touches gets burned and destroyed...and people die by the hundreds.
Our guys need to hear what BIBI has to say....
I think Boehner should meet them half way: change the date, as they suggest, but to this coming week.
What? He can’t just make an executive order?
