GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) Officers from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety are investigating after a man crashed his truck through the Coast Guard Station Gate and assaulted U.S. Coast Guard personnel.
This happened just after 6:00 a.m. Sunday. According to officials, the suspect broke into the station and threatened he had an explosive device in his truck.
Authorities say all U.S. Coast Guard personnel are safe.
At this time, Harbor Drive and the boardwalk are closed until further notice. Residents of Sand Piper Condos are advised to shelter in place. If you live there, stay in your residence until all clear is given.

What condition is the gate crasher in?
I used to work at the old station there in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. My how times have changed.
Doesn’t look like any real security there from street view.
Workplace Violence, most likely Bush’s fault.
islamism until demonstrated otherwise.
What happened to our country of MEN? WTSHTF I'm not "sheltering in place", but like a minuteman I'm taking up my arms and confronting evil.
Because nothing brings the Great Satan to his knees faster than crashing into a repair base.
About a week ago, some Coastie on Cape Cod shot two female Coasties and a cop at condo complex, killing one of the females. People were advised to “shelter in place”, while the perpetrator was on the loose. He was taken, uninjured unfortunately, and faces mental evaluation. In this case it really was “workplace violence”. He had a thing for one the females. BTW, there are a lot of retired military on the Upper (western) Cape, and a lot of them are gun owners, so don’t go all unarmed sheeple on me. (Upper Cape, because old navigational charts were “west up”, hence Maine was “Down East”.)
Not “Existential” enough to worry about.
Is the old station on the north side of the river? Its the only one I’m finding but Boardwalk and Harbor drive are on the south side of the river.
I would do that around my residence as well.
However, the term is used quit frequently on military bases. These installations have planned response teams normally ready on small and large bases. They want the intruder, criminal or shooter wandering around without all sorts of other uniformed and non uniformed persons out confusing the situation.
As most bases are training, permanent party, storage of equipment and the like, uniformed service people without the duty need to be armed are not armed. When you think about it it makes perfect sense to not have to draw an M-16 when you are changing the fuel filter of the fueling system of a cutter.
The base I am in and out of the last few years shot dead an “active shooter” who was an idiot car thief who would not stop just before I got here. They have no problem taking out the bad guys, but it isn’t a free for all.
“What happened to our country of MEN?”
Trial lawyers.
Too low of a body count to be muslim terrorists. Maybe one is off his meds and drove the truck out too early.
Seems to be some important information left out of this news report.
Was the attacker arrested, detained, or released?
What was the attacker’s description, race, ethnicity, age?
Base security or Coast Guard Police Department (if Grand Haven even has one) don’t want a bunch of civilians and untrained people running around confusing the situation when they’re trying to neutralize a threat to the base as fast as possible. Shelter in Place orders keep the wrong people from being shot.
Bingo. If the perp tries to get in your house, then you can shoot him.
Police: Coast Guard Station attack was domestic terrorism
