Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker believes Mitt Romney is a "good man and would have been a good president," but now that the former Massachusetts governor has officially backed out of the 2016 race, Walker would like his support among the list of possible Republican presidential hopefuls.
"I would love to have his endorsement," Walker told Fox News Channel's Bret Baier during a segment that aired Friday of an interview that will be running as part of a series surrounding potential 2016 candidates.
At the same time, Walker said that he thinks it is "a time for new fresh ideas," and he appreciates "the fact in his comments that he pointed out it is time to maybe pass the torch and look for new leadership."
Walker, who took a call from Romney while he was being interviewed by Baier, said that there is no doubt that Romney's decision not to mount a third try at the presidency changes the Republican landscape....

Waiting for Bret’s transcript to be loaded onto FNC site.
Quite eye-opening. Saw it last night.
I think Romney will back Cristie.
Mmmmm... nope.
I saw your post about that on another thread and went searching!
Isn’t Romley that guy who lost?
For many Republicans, Romney’s endorsement would be a boon to whomever gets it.
Conservatives are not going to get their man for the nomination if they are going to reject everybody for the slightest reasons.
Shouldn’t we ping all the Walker supporters to this development?
They’re probably all asleep. I will ping them all in the AM.
Fixed it.
He and McCain were the RINOs left standing after all the pure-as-the-driven-snow shot all the real conservatives in the backs during the primaries for all their perceived slights. 2007 - down went Hunter, Thompson, etc. 2011 - down went Gingrich, Santorum, etc. Victims of conservative FReepers who liked other conservatives less than their own.
So sure, let’s shoot up Walker and and Cruz for whatever perceived slights. Why wait for the media to do it? We do it so well ourselves! Then Jeb can waltz into the nomination because we shot Walker and the others.
By the way, how is year 6 of the Hunter/Thompson administration going? Oh, wait, it didn’t happen! We killed them both! (Let’s pat outselves on the backs for that one, boys!)
Um, I raised just over $40,000 for Fred Thompson, so how I’m guilty of derailing his candidacy is beyond me...
I hope that everyone who claims to be a Republican supports the eventual nominee for President. I don’t want any 3rd party BS to help elect a Democrat.
I didn’t say you shot your OWN candidate. Circular firing squads shoot each other’s conservative candidates until, why, look, they’re all gone! How did that happen??
My humble suggestion is lay off the conservative candidates and take down the Jebs and Christies.
But no one will listen. To busy trying to inch our own respective conservative an inch or two above another conservative by going ZOMG Walker Said Something About Romney Kill The Heathen!!!!!
None will remain after the carnage.
I don’t think many of us claim to be republicans anymore, after all the republican knives we’re having to pull out of our backs on a near-daily basis.
Really?
I'd see it as a reason to be deeply suspicious of that person.
Many of us don’t “Claim to be a Republican,” and for good reason.
Cowboy Bob I’m not even looking that far ahead right yet. I’d just like a conservative to survive the primary so we will HAVE a conservative to support in the general. But we won’t let that happen if we look to kneecap each others’ conservative candidates before things even get going.
