A New Jersey high school senior has won her case to keep "one nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, defeating atheist attacks that sought to strike the language from the pledge.

Samantha Jones, a senior at Highland Regional High School, declared victory Friday in protecting what she has described as the right of her fellow students to continue reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in its entirety. After hearing the teen and her family's case, a state judge dismiss the latest efforts by the American Humanist Association to remove "under God" from the Pledge.

The legal battle first began when an unnamed New Jersey family from Monmouth County, identified in court papers as John and Jane Doe and their child, sued the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District in February 2014, alleging the phrase "under God" in the pledge is discriminatory. The case was filed by the American Humanist Association, which claimed the recitation of the pledge violates Article 1 of the state's constitution

Hmmmmm.

A New Jersey (aka "PRNJ" = People's Republic of New Jersey) judge agrees that an oath that was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, who was a Socialist minister should not revert to its pre-1954 form.

I have no objection to people pledging whatever they want that isn't illegal, immoral or personally harmful to me but was America all that bad from 1892 to 1954 compared to America today?

This “humanist” group is the same group suing a northeast ga community b/c the “humanist” group doesn’t want prayers to be allowed at athletic gatherings. At all. Not by players acting on their own. Not at all. Not before a contest, not afterwards spontaneously by players. Nothing.

The suit alleges that some coach at a high school actually led a prayer. If that’s true I wouldn’t doubt it being that the culture here is that parents want religious values instilled in their kids and want them immersed in positive religious experiences. The one atheist is being used by the “humanist” group to use the suit to prevent any praying AT ALL even by the athletes on their own. One shouts down millions...

OK so the coach should not have led a prayer. Sue for that to stop - ok. But to try to stop ALL prayer by ANYONE is just as wrong or even more wrongerer....

I am also willing to bet that this “humanist” group’s activities are at least in part taxpayer funded.

NRST yes.

The problem that I have with the Pledge is the following. The Pledge contains wording like “one nation,” and “indivisible.” So while patriots are fighting unconstitutionally big federal government they are simultaneously encouraging our young adult children to recite the Pledge which waters down the idea of state sovereignty by arguably promoting big federal government.

Thomas Jefferson had put it this way.
