Jeb Bush is setting the pace for press access in the 2016 campaign. And as political reporters, we love this.
In the last 24 hours, Bush e-mailed a comment to a New York Times reporter for a profile of one of his top aides. He gave an interview to the National Journal. After his speech in Detroit, he also took questions from reporters and appeared quite comfortable in doing so. It is an echo of his first foray into his soon-to-be campaign, when he announced he would release a trove of e-mails from his two terms as Florida governor. (Of course, the e-mails were hardly under lock and key because of sunshine laws; it was much more a symbolic move.)
As a campaign strategy (yes, he is running), this is a good thing for Bush, if he can pull it off. It's also a marked contrast from his top likely opponents.

Clinton jousting with HER lapdog press? Complete BS.
If the Repubs nominate Bush, I won’t be voting in any more national elections......ever.
Me too, GSW
Just keep talking Jebbie. Talk yourself right out of the nomination. :-)
I will add myself to that.
The press is Lucy holding the football, Jeb is Charlie Brown. What an idiot.
Jeb can schmooze with whatever liberal media he wants and talk to any self-serving political consultants he wants who want to enrich themselves with campaign consultant cash.
The problem is that his insulting, aggravating and utter disregard for the sovereignty of this country over some Triumvirate Presidency BS is NOT going to make him a president.
Frankly, if he’s the only choice, I stay home, period.
He was never “in” it for the nomination in my book, frankly. I won’t trade my country’s sovereignty because he’s married to a Mexican and wants to be President.
Yep! Same with Romney. If Jeb thinks it will be any different for him, then he is too much of a fool to compete even in New Hampshire.
Hillary arrives in designer dress patterned after crack house wallpaper.
Will receive the coveted Gold-plated Knitting Needles statuette:
cited as the Democrat candidate "Most Likely to Unravel."
George W. Bush was terribly misguided. Among other follies, he spent more of the taxpayers hard earned money than any previous President since Lyndon Johnson. He set us up for what we have now. He lost my--previously fervent--support when I realized that he had no intention of securing the Mexican Border or halting illegal immigration in violation of his responsibility and his oath of office to enforce U.S. law and thus to do so.
George H. S. and George W.'s cozy relationship with the Clintons is a red flag that something's wrong. Maybe they just have an inflated opinion of the honor that serving as President confers on someone.
Barbara Bush just about cooked her goose with me when she made those ugly and slurring remarks about Sarah Palin.
However there are two things to be said in favor of the Bush's:
1. They are honorable and decent people. In past years, these would have been taken for granted. Not so today--for obvious reasons.2. They love the U.S.A. and are committed to its future.
IMO Jebbie does not really want to be President and is being pushed into it. I think he is trying to sabotage his campaign with all these crazy statements.
One would want to think that, even if for some modicum of respect for this brother with anti-terror works (NOTHING with budget, economic or other plains, however).
I don’t think so. These GOPe twits BELIEVE they can win with Coc, RNC, GOPe and by lying to marginally conservative Americans. They are lies embodied. They will betray us at the drop of an Amnesty hat - but they won’t call it that, and they will lie, dissemble, obfuscate when they do it.
I have a feeling that Jeb is going to be a one debate pony. Ted Cruz, Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal will make mince meat out of him pretty quickly.
I’d love to ask Jeb if he would also embrace the Common Core way of counting votes in 2016. Since he supports it so much and all.
Jeb Bush murdered Terri Schiavo.
There are old people who just seem to keep going and going. Ronald Reagan. Lillian Gish.
Hillary! is not aging well. She’s deteriorating before our eyes. If she does run, she will deteriorate even faster. She will balloon. She will make a lot of verbal stumbles.
