The U.S. Navys next generation air superiority fighter will not be super-duper fast or employ much in the way of stealth, a senior navy official announced on Wednesday.
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert, the Navys top officer, divulged some details about the Navys so-called Next Generation Air Dominance F/A-XX fighter jet during a speech at an industry conference.
I dont see that its going to be super-duper fast, because you cant outrun missiles. Greenert said, the Washington Examiner reported. And you cant become so stealthy that you become invisible you are going to generate a signature of some sort, he also noted, adding You know that stealth may be overrated
. If something moves fast through the air and disrupts molecules in the air and puts out heat I dont care how cool the engine can be its going to be detectable.

We don't even need the F-22's to win.
But it's good to have them. Just in case.
Obama is going to bring back bi-planes soon enough
It sounds defeatest. The real answer is, “we can’t afford to be the far and away most technilogically advanced military in the world anymore.”
Well, either bi or LGBT-planes.
Sorry, I should have said queer-planes.
lol
I should have saw that coming.
F-15’s are being sent to Tyndall AFB in Florida, being refitted and equipped to fly by remote control, tails being repainted day glow orange with matching stripes, and then flown by remote control about 70 miles off the Gulf coast to be shot down as target practice for F22 and F35’s.
I guess they finally ran out of Phantoms.
Why don’t we just let F-22s do covert training in the ME and Asia? They can shoot down real enemies and never be discovered. Taht’s what Russia does.
Bigger, Slower, More expensive, just like the Pentagon likes it.
How about we not worry about gen6, and stick with the F-22, which works in a pretty scary way.
National Interest is a SATIRE site folks
There are still a few Phantoms flying around Tyndall without the paint. (Yet)
The article definitely did not seem to be satirical, and the same news is on other websites.
No, it is not a satire site.
For a moment I thought he was describing an A-10. But they just retired the last A-10s. Stupid $hits.

Sounds a lot like an A-10. ;-)
They are talking about hi tech weapons instead of speed and stealth. Less defense, more offense. One idea I’ve had: Suppose you can beam a virus onto a wired network? Induction is a known EM phenomenon. Suppose you got the ability to induce voltages SO PRECISELY that you could simulate a bit of computer code, and plant it on a network? Without complete faraday-caging absolutely everywhere, it could work, and there would be little by way of defense.
