Haven't they been teetering on the brink since Charles Tandy died, and he died in 1978?

I remember we had a HBS case study -- it was either Radio Shack, or a mildly disguised Radio Shack, and I graduated, ummmmmm, 25 years ago.

Except for the creditors, does this actually mean anything in 2015? How many times has United Airlines gone bankrupt?

It would be a shame to pay $5 for shipping and wait for the mailman every time I need to buy some $1 electrical part, so I hope they don't liquidate. Anyway, their balance sheet seems to be in much better shape than the Obama administration's.

It’s not Obola’s fault.
Radio Shack simply didn’t reinvent themselves and changed with the times. They are the floppy disk of business.

Stopped going there when it no longer carried electronic parts. It became a bad phone store instead.

Obama's administration takes the blame for the economy turning sour. Radio Shack's management take the blame for not having enough cash on hand to weather the sour economy.

As a child in the 70s I loved going through their catalogs.

But when I grew up, I was never able to get over the irritation I associated with Radio Shack’s request for my phone number. I would only go in when I HAD to.

In my area Fry’s has eaten their lunch.

I don’t know. Barry’s buffoons in his state controlled “media” keep telling us that Barry’s “conomy” is kickin’ ass and “boomin’” big time. WHERE? I just don’t see it. I’m seeing businesses closing down all over the place. Lots of businesses with plywood over the doors and windows. Where the hell is Barry’s “boomin’ conomy?”

I use parts express.com. Better prices even with shipping nine times out of 10

Radio Shack was a dead man walking long before Obama. Best Buy is next.

Frys, DigiKey, Mouser, Adafruit, SparkFun...these companies are flourishing doing what Radio Shack says nobody is interested in anymore. The RS management screwed this company into the ground, hope Amazon buys what’s left and shows how to return to its full potential. You can’t tell me that in today’s world there’s not a need for electronics merchandising in every decent-sized town, with local inventory not just online ordering.

Amen. I hate mail-ordering a connector for some piece of equipment only to find out I guessed wrong. I like to be able to take things someplace and make sure they match. And I'm 5 states from the nearest Fry's...sigh...

Remember, it was Radio Shack with its TRS 80 that started the personal computer revolution, not Bill Gates and Microsoft.

Yeah, I know about Atari, but RS s tarted the wave.
