These attackers gained unauthorized access to Anthems IT system and have obtained personal information from our current - and former members - such as their names, birthdays, medical IDs/social security numbers, street addresses, email addresses and employment information, including income data.
Thanks, WH.
Well under Obama care there is no Hippa for the government.
nope this was a major date breach, yes i work for anthem
no Unitedhealthcare manages all the arrp products
I thought it was United Healthcare.
Now that all this info is in the hands of hackers, do the security firms like Lifelock actually provide security?
This is my health insurance through work. If some 20-someting hip hop black dude in shades shows up to apply for a credit card, claiming to be BigEdLB, he’s not...
Agree w/ you 110%. The day will come soon when people will stop loving the cloud so much.
A really good hack and hundreds (thousands?) of people losing money will bring the cloud to its knees.
I trust no one with my data except me. I go out of my way to minimize the amount of my stuff that is “out there.”
When I was in business, I attended a HIPAA conference with other vendors. We sat at tables of six and listened to a decent one-hour talk on HIPPA. At the end of the meeting each table was asked to discuss HIPPA among our selves and develop one or two sentences describing our feelings about HIPAA based on the presentation.
I forget the exact words we used, but it was along the lines of, “These regulations will cause extreme stress among all involved in healthcare, including patients. We cannot predict a good outcome for this.”
“Got my email from Anthem this morning.
Thank you Anthem Blue Cross.”
Anthem is only sending snail mail regarding this nightmare - what you got was a phishing scam - got an alert about this scam at work today.
It hardly matters. Your own banking online is harmless. The harm arises from someone else doing banking with your account. If you don't have an online account with your bank, you are more vulnerable:
Computer security is a complex matter, and breaches like this are creating fear among the uninitiated. But it makes as much sense as fearing to buy a simple Toyota for driving around town after hearing that a Formula 1 driver got hurt during a race. What did him in is not what you will ever face.
I got that notice at work today also, about the scam and that we’d be contacted by snail mail if our account was compromised.
The email I got at home matches the one the company forwarded to the employees on Wednesday.
Once a certain percentage of bank accounts are compromised, verifiable ID will be required to access your account.
Guess what form of acceptable ID they will require?
Democrats.
Hussein is a lying punk ass ID thief!
