WASHINGTON — In highly unusual testimony inside the federal supermax prison, a former operative for Al Qaeda has described prominent members of Saudi Arabia’s royal family as major donors to the terrorist network in the late 1990s and claimed that he discussed a plan to shoot down Air Force One with a Stinger missile with a staff member at the Saudi Embassy in Washington....
There has long been evidence that wealthy Saudis provided support for bin Laden, the son of a Saudi construction magnate, and Al Qaeda before the 2001 attacks.

I don’t think there is much basis for that opinion. Further, I don’t think we the public yet know the full details. For one thing the structure of the wealthy indigene power structure in Saudi Structure of Saudi Arabia is not monolithic so that everyone is in unison on the issues involved.

Moussaoui was deeply involved with the al Qaeda sleeper al Marri, the fellow from Illinois that Obama just cut loose and shipped overseas and arguably one of the most interesting members of al Qaeda’s second wave plot. Al Marri was the character whose steamer chest the FBI took a keen interest in during the anthrax investigations, and al Marri had something to do with importing what he called “seeds”, the nature of which remains unknown but likely precipitated interest in that trunk because it could have been a coded reference, and given his activities and connections I very much doubt that he was bringing in heirloom tomato seeds for his dear old mom.
This basically has been well known for many years.
And, as Americans have managed to do nothing about the Saudi terrorist-funding (and training network) problem...for so long....

I’ve been saying for a long time that the saudis should have been our FIRST takedown after 9/11.
It’s true there’s not much being told about Moussaoui and his associates.
Turki got removed right away after 9/11, IIRC.
As for Moussaoui, he was part of al Marri’s second wave / west coast plot group, and was involved with the Malaysian terrorist who was working with al Qaeda on outfitting a small biochem lab- part of their targets of interest were also financial, such as the LA bank tower and US mint.
Since the cases of these men all twine about the anthrax investigation, no doubt there is much withheld from us.
al Marri was the Qatari sleeper based in Illinois with his family who ran a credit card fraud operation on the side, was laundering money with al-Hawsawi? and was seeking info on hydrogen cyanide; I suspect he and the shady Qatari, Qaradawi, could be aquainted and can become more so now that Obama just recently sent him quietly home to Qatar.
