America Loves a Sniper

I took with me to the movie a buddy who was a sniper in the Vietnam War. While gasbags like Michael Moore toss around the word “cowardly” about men whose boots they are not fit to lace up, those who have served in combat know that snipers are just another reliable weapon, typically picking off with precision enemy threats to our own troops, at considerable risk to the snipers themselves, who were hunted with vigor. Of course, Michael Moore’s ilk think of snipers as unfair, while we know that a fair fight in combat is glaring evidence of a failure to plan.

Seems like the lib/pantywad/crybaby libs are extremely successful in failing to plan anything. Oddly enough, they never seem to want to go and have a koom bye ya moment with these killers of Americans. They should strive to have a beer summit with isis/isil/is or whatever this weeks name is. But not terrorists.

The harmful aspect of the flap over the movie being the fact Moore was given “face time.” The media creates these controversies; they sent out a news team to obtain Moore’s “point of view.” The media then publishes his “view” and then sits back and sells more soap. In a real world with strong values Moore would be ignored.

Isn’t it revealing that most liberals seem to have problem with a sniper yet don’t say much about Obama’s use of drones to take out the enemy. A sniper takes out combatants one by one with precision that insures no innocent live are taken. Obama uses drones that may or may not take out combatants and often results in innocent women and children being killed. I am not against drone strikes by the way. I’m just saying you don’t see a lot of liberals getting all worked up about Obama’s drone strikes like they do about they’re coward comments regarding snipers

Best line, IMO. The ROE placed on our troops in Iraq/Afghanistan is the best example and is why we must continue to deal with the menace of Islam seeking to destroy us.

Yup. If you ain’t “in it to win it”, then you/we are wasting our military’s lives on a pointless mission. “Military’s Lives Matter.” Round chambered. Round heading down range.

Agree 100%. Stupid ROE set by politicians/liberal military commanders get more of our troops killed or sent to prison than should happen. If you’re gonna put us in a war, then by God let us win that war by any means possible.

In the liberal mind, a sniper is what they see in the movies. Usually a guy in the woods randomly killing civilians.

There is no such thing as a “fair fight” in combat. Only one side ever handicaps itself, while the other side takes every advantage of those real existing or self-imposed handicaps.

If you are winning, you are by definition not handicapped.

If I am in a fight, the last thing I want is for it to be fair. I want my side to have a lot more strength behind it.

Whoever thinks combat should be “fair” has never been in a fight, let alone a war.

Eff That.

I am trying to think of where I’ve seen snipers in movies. The most recent are Private Ryan, Inglorious Basterds, and Am Sniper.

I cannot remember a single incident there where the shots (even the German ones) were not depicted as legit sniper shots.

My uncle was killed in WWII by a Jap Machine gun. Should I think that because he did not carry a machine gun, it was not fair. I understand why the Japs were trying to kill my uncle: he was coming to kill them.

I’m not necessarily thinking of military movies.

But in the movies and tv, whenever a bad guy sits on a rooftop or hides in the woods and randomly kills people from afar, he is referred to as a ‘sniper’ (and often it turns out the guy is ex military, and sometimes even an ex sniper).

If you’re looking for a military setting, I remember an episode of the tv show MASH, where a sniper was taking pot shots at the hospital.

In real life, the lunatics who randomly killed people in Maryland and DC were called the “DC Sniper” in the media...even though the distances of the shots were well within the realm of basic rifle training, and they should have been called the “DC Ambusher”.

So in much of the movie and tv world, the word ‘Sniper’ is synonymous with a bad guy randomly killing people...and I truly believe liberals (who place great importance on these mediums) have no idea what a sniper really is, or why they are part of our doctrine.

I honestly have to say that I have never thought of those idiots as "snipers." You are right though, that is what the public calls them.

They are "sniping" which is the type of shooting. But the term sniper has always denoted a trained individual. That's my bias!
