Though President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle still have two years left in the White House, their foundation has come up with a bold slogan for their next chapter: Eight years is only the beginning.
When they leave on Jan. 20, 2017, Obama will be only 55 and his wife, who turned 51 on Jan. 17, will have just celebrated her 53rd birthday.
Not that I ever doubted it, but the Chicago-based Barack Obama Foundations revamped website, which went live Friday, makes it clear the Obamas intend to maintain a robust public presence in the decades to come.
The foundation launched the retooled website with a tease as it solicited people to sign up for its email list, a crucial first step to low-dollar fundraising. Something big is coming and we want you to be a part of it.
The long-anticipated decision on which university will host the Obama presidential library, museum and academic center is expected at the end of March. The competition is among the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Chicago, the University of Hawaii and Columbia University in New York.
The foundation also is putting out a call for Obama artifacts to be donated to the museum. They are looking for a photo, a story or physical object.
Help us tell Obamas story, says a Web page. Over the next few years, the foundation will collect and catalog artifacts that memorialize Obamas historic campaigns and presidency.
Obama is very aware the clock is ticking. And I promise you, Im not going out the last two years sitting on the sidelines, he told House Democrats at their Jan. 29 retreat in Philadelphia.
While Obama is focusing on the present, the foundation, led by Obamas pal Marty Nesbitt, is creating the framework for the Obamas future. The foundation was created in January 2014.
Our first priority is laying the groundwork for the Barack Obama Library and Museum, the foundation said. This year, well choose a partner institution and construction site and start to gather the stories and artifacts that recall a historic presidency.
Next, well sketch out the programs and initiatives that will begin when the president and first lady come on board in 2017.
A foundation representative, who declined to be named, said the site was updated to provide the necessary digital infrastructure for the foundation as we prepare to grow in the months and years ahead.
If that pitch to harvest data seems familiar, it is based on models used by the two Obama presidential campaigns, the social media operatives at the Obama White House and the Obama-related Organizing for Action, also based in Chicago.
The foundations overhauled website was created by Blue State Digital, whose founder, Joe Rospars, was the main digital strategist for the 2008 and 2012 Obama campaigns. Blue State also works for OFA.
FOOTNOTE: Im told that Nesbitt will be calling Chicago community leaders to independently get some input as the self-imposed March decision deadline nears. On Feb. 11, the Chicago Park District will consider transferring park land to the city if the foundation ends up picking the University of Chicago, which proposed using parts of Washington Park or Jackson Park.
In the weeks ahead, we will be reaching out to community leaders to solicit their thoughts and feedback in advance of our site selection recommendation. Once a site has been selected, the foundation will continue to work with local institutions, governments and citizens to ensure their voices are heard in the process of constructing the Obama Presidential Center, a foundation spokesman said.
Ugh . . . they really are just like the Clintons, aren’t they? Will we NEVER be rid of this odious pair?
some of it here and the rest .... there
The beginning of their ‘1000 year reign’?
Something big is coming and we want you to be a part of it.
Something like repealing that pesky 22nd Amendment, perhaps?
These people telegraph their punches. If you listen to them, they'll tell you what they're going to do.
Why start now?
How about a dildo...?
Ben wa balls...?
Don’t you mean Jan 20, 2017?

Obama has militarized every federal agency, appointed his lapdog generals/officer corp, has the press clearly in his back pocket, and no opposition from congress to hold him and the administration accountable. I dont know in what form it will come, but my gut tells me it will start with drone strikes and escalate from there.I posted this scenario a few weeks ago.
Obama will be term-limited out of the White House in 2016, but he has already hinted that he will "stay in Washington DC" after his presidency is over. What he will do is "organize" his civilian force that will have been weaponized by the time he leaves office.
Obama will arise as a leader in exile with his own loyal military, and he will challenge the incoming President with the threat of real force at some point early in the next administration.
Thinking about it further, it explains all the weapons, ammo, body vests, and armor requests from the BLM, USDA, IRS, Social Security, NOAA, and other bureaucratic outfits not expected to be heavily armored.
When Obama is ready, he will make a loyalty call to anyone from these government jobs who supports him, and will mobilize a militarized insurgency within all 50 states. He doesn't need a centralized army, he will have enough force in each state that matters, enough to scare.
Most recently militarized...

It’s a RAT thing. None of ‘em....Carter, Clinton, Obama....have a clue about riding off into the sunset to enjoy a quiet retirement.
If you think Clinton has been a pain in the ass since he left office, just wait to see what this, magic negro is like.
Don’t know if Muslims will use infidels. I wonder if all those sealed records will be on display in his library. The freedom of information act is useless without that, and should have been open from the moment of his first campaign. Maybe I should reword that, his never-ending campaign.
It was simply astonishing how much authority I lost once the word got out that I was retiring. People in my own organization, as well is in others just no longer were interested in what I had to say, since I was longer be able to influence their careers. Once I did leave I quickly lost track of who's in charge, what products were in the pipeline, and how well the company was doing.
The same will be true with Obama. He's used to a lifetime of success based primarily on affirmative action, not competence. Once he has no authority, he will have little influence. His actions are so out of line with rational behavior, he will simply line up with Jimmy Carter as the crazy uncle in the attic.
This is laugh out loud hilarious!! Kudos for such a snarky, creative mindset.
