I don't disagree with any thing you wrote there. Repeal of 17th should be done 50 years ago and I don't understand how or why any state agreed to relinquish its authority in the first place but they did.

My point still keeps poking me: the responsibility to make it all work rests with the populace not new words on paper. The populace is asleep in front of the TV and just don't care. Unless and until we, or they if you prefer, decide to hold officials accountable to oaths and law it is all for naught because you can't push a rope and there is not enough of us to drag the dead weight.

Suppose the convention takes place, everything occurs exactly as narrated by Levine. If the populace still pays no attention and holds no “officials” accountable it is just more of the same. And to be frank, I see nothing waking the populace until life is so radically changed they can't bear the pain.

If the convention passes Levin's recommended amendments, which are subsequently ratified by 3/4 of the states, the positive effects on liberty will begin immediately and accelerate.

Levin's amendments are structural They super-federalize the government and cannot be ignored any easier than even calendar year elections.

View a summary of Levin's amendments here.
