Jesse Ventura: ‘American Sniper’ as real as ‘Dirty Harry,’ blasts Chris Kyle as dishonorable, liar

Former pro wrestler and Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has joined director Michael Moore and actor Seth Rogen in denigrating “American Sniper” and its subject, the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

Mr. Ventura said during an interview Wednesday that Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” — which he has not seen — is as authentic as his 1970s “Dirty Harry” cop films. He then said the famous sniper was a man without honor.

“A hero must be honorable, must have honor. And you can’t have honor if you’re a liar. There is no honor in lying,” Mr. Ventura told The Associated Press, referring to his defamation lawsuit against the late SEAL’s estate over a subchapter in his autobiography titled “Punching Out Scruff Face.”

Jesse “The Liar” Ventura was not a SEAL for one day in his life. If he was, what SEAL Team was he assigned to? None, never. When he was in the teams, both future SEALs and future UDT frogmen attended BUD/S (BASIC Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training.) After their BUD/S graduation, they split, with some going to one of the two SEAL Teams (one on each coast) and most going to UDTs, with several UDT teams on each coast. UDT men were given the USN specialty code 5321, SEALs were given 5326. They had different post-BUD/S training, tactics, equipment etc. UDT guys rode ships and supported the fleet on amphibious ops.

Even new BUD/s graduate “tadpoles” assigned to SEAL Teams were NOT SEALs until they passed additional combat training specific to SEALs, and went on to deploy with a SEAL platoon. Only after all of this did anybody become a SEAL. UDT men in 1972 were great guys, hairy chested UDT frogmen, but they were NOT SEALs. During this time, SEALs were engaging in combat in Vietnam, while Ventura was a bouncer in SoCal strip clubs on his time off, and when deployed, he didn’t go to Vietnam, instead, his UDT platoon went to places like Subic Bay in the Philippines.

That always was a trait I saw in Ventura when he was hanging around MN. Before he won the Governor's office (by default of bored voters) he was a host on morning talk radio. He was always petulant, selfish, boorish and a general turd in every conceivable conversation on air - unless it was some dope smoking libertarian calling up to kiss his backside. All the other hosts made low-key jokes about him (they knew he would explode and maybe hit somebody if it was direct) and he was always jealous and openly sneering about the success and viewpoints of other hosts. In sum, Ventura was a born bully and has used media to get what he has. For that level of cunning, he is a success. However, in any other circumstance, he'd just be another broken down jock who thinks he can push his way around and is universally hated. Come to think of it, that's exactly what he is.
