The Koch brothers conservative network is still debating whether it will spend any of its massive $889 million budget in the Republican presidential primaries, but the prospect of choosing a GOP nominee loomed over the networks just-concluded donor conference in the California desert.
In an informal straw poll of some conference donors, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida came out ahead of four other would-be GOP presidential candidates who had been invited, according to an attendee familiar with the results. The poll was conducted by Frank Luntz, a veteran GOP pollster, during a break-out session of the conference, which wrapped up Tuesday after a long weekend of presentations and discussions at the Ritz-Carlton in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul who received the least enthusiastic response from donors during a Sunday night forum of prospective candidates that also featured Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz finished last in Luntzs poll, the source told POLITICO. The poll is by no means a definitive assessment of the feelings of the hundreds of wealthy business leaders who comprise the vaunted network created by billionaire industrialist brothers Charles and David Koch. But it does provide an early glimpse into the leanings of a pool of megadonors who are being hotly courted by the field of would-be candidates, and whose checkbooks could go a long way toward determining who emerges with the GOP nomination regardless of whether the Koch network decides to formally back a candidate.

In the last few days I have read several stories that “Rubio will be the nominee.” It seems that greater powers just need to leak this phrase out over and over again and the prophecy becomes reality. We’ll see. But I am suspicious.
I give Rubio my early *BARF*.
How’s that?
Bump
(and the Koch bros are NOT conservatives, they are GLOBALISTS.
I have some doubts about Rubio on several issues and think Cruz is a better choice. I’ll go with either one right now as long as it leads to a quick conservative choice. The other players who are and know they are non-players need to step aside for the good of the country or declare that they and not the country are their priority.
The focus should be to identify and get behind a single, true conservative as early as possible, build that momentum and money backing and then steamroll the GOPe and their pet monkeys.
K.
If he gets nominated, we lose again. Nobody is going to be enthusiastic to vote for Mr. “Amnesty Lite”, except RINO business owners, and they can’t form a majority.
Yeah, no thanks. I like my President with a mean streak.
I agree. The Kochs’ affinity for amnesty, dope and faggotry makes me immediately distrustful of anyone I learn they are supporting. Although, Rubio was long ago jettisoned from my consideration with his bald-faced lying in those Zuckerberg-funded amnesty commercials. I have nothing but contempt for him.
Do they have any information about George Soros’ plans too?
It would be nice to compare them...
Has Sarah Palin been in the public eye at all lately? It’s been years since I’ve heard/read of her speaking anywhere but it could just be me living in a cave.
She spoke at that Iowa Summit thing last weekend. Few were impressed.
None of this matters. If you want to know who the nominee will be ask this question:
Who is the most Liberal RINO in the field?
ANSWER: Jeb Bush.
THIS is who the RNC will funnel all money to.
Factoprs such as your opinion, various polls, huge anti-RINO sentiment... all of that will be totally ignored by the RNC. they don’t give a damn about actual public sentiment. All that matters is satisfying their pay masters.
So Politico is reporting on the Koch brothers’ donations as if they are somehow different or worse or more nefarious than the donations that millionaires and billionaires make to pretty much every other candidate? Are we going to get the same types of articles on Hillary raking it in from Chinese and Indonesian straw donors? Or liberal billionaires and their hypocritical agenda-driven donations? Politico is such a rag it isn’t funny.
Palin didn’t do herself any favors with that godawful speech the other night. Does she even have a speechwriter?
