Here’s a simple algebra equation to describe what it’s like to grow up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Take the year, subtract 20, and that’s the year it really is inside the Mormon gerontocracy.
When I was a child, I was told that black people couldn’t hold leadership positions until 1978 because it “just wasn’t their time yet.” To explain their opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment, my parents cited some paranoid logic about unisex bathrooms. I had left my family’s faith by the time church members were supporting California’s Proposition 8 to the tune of $20 million, but I still remember some ominous rumblings about the specter of legally mandated same-sex weddings being held in Mormon chapels. What SLC is hoping for is that if they cave to the homos, that the homos will permit them to “practice in peace” or some such based on yesterday’s announcement.
Those of us who know what the homo agenda is about know that is not gonna happen. Shows that SLC general authorities are either quite obtuse, naive or possibly complicit...not the kind of “authorities” I would be following on spiritual matters if they’re quick to succumb to worldly matters.
Their consent to BSA’s membership policy change and the lack of any dissent within the LDS membership to such must have emboldened them to pursue this matter.

Now that the state of Utah has said it's not enforcing prosecution vs. polygamists, the Mormon leaders...who have LONG provided hidden cover to polygamists well after 1890...realize that if they're going to quietly sanction one alternative "sexual orientation"...polygamy...then all is "fair" in lust & war across the board!
This is all rooted in the Lds general authority knee-jerk reaction to the crit the church unfairly rec'd after supporting onemanonewoman marriage in 2008.
I guess they realized how political posturing in the name of "we're not polygamists anymore" made them a cultural target & effected their "comfort zone."
But then...
...(1) the media started running "Big LOVE" polygamous "reality" shows to get the culture to soften up on it...
...(2a) it's been cited on FR DOZENS of times since 2008's Prop 8 backing how Lds "apostles" (like Bruce McConkie) taught that polygamy would be reinstituted on earth when the Mormon Jesus returned...
...(2b) and how their teaching that marriage is eternal means ALL kinds of Mormons from EVERY century would then become eternal polygamists...
...THEREFORE, I think the Mormon Church has realized that since it's untenable for them to run away from their sanctioning of polygamy on the sly that they might as well carve a way to get EVERYBODY to accept EVERY "sexual orientation" under the sun...if not morally, then in every other way.
And, btw, the Mormon Church has actually been supporting the protection of "sexual orientation" in housing & employment since 2009:

Dude, I don’t care who opposed the ERA, it was a pretty awful brave new world packaged in a Constitutional Amendment. I would gladly oppose it if I lived back then. Call me sexist, but I don’t think drafting women, or one of the many aspects I consider messed up in that law is cool. We’re all backed in the deviants corner, if we think anything the deviants do is even slightly disgusting.
