Top State Dept Official: ‘Nothing religious’ About Islamic State Execution

A senior State Department official on Saturday claimed that there is “nothing religious” about the Islamic State’s reported execution of a Japanese hostage.

Rick Stengel, an under secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs, took to Twitter to condemn the killing of Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa, who has been held for ransom by the terror group along with Japanese freelance reporter Kenji Goto.

“Brutal criminal murder of Japanese citizen #Haruna Yukawa by the terrorist group #Daesh,” Stengel tweeted after IS released video of the killing. “Nothing religious about it.”

Stengel’s apparent refusal to acknowledge that IS’s radical Islamic beliefs played a role in the execution comports with other recent statements by Obama administration officials, who have refused to use the terms Islamic extremism or radical Islam when discussing the issue of terrorism.

You are right. It’s a mantra. They just keep repeating it over and over until they believe it. Then once they believe it, no amount of evidence to the contrary will ever convince them otherwise.

Do the Japanese now understand that the U.S. under Obama is not its ally but its enemy?

When something tragic happens to a friend, one’s first instinct is to come to the friend’s aid — NOT to use the tragedy as an excuse to deliver a political talking point, which is what our State Department is doing in response to the beheading of a Japanese citizen.

When both Japan and Israel finally face the reality that the U.S. will not stand with them in times of need, then maybe the two countries can become true allies — with Israel building an Iron Dome missile-defense system for Japan to guard it against North Korean nuclear bombs, while Japan helps Israel by becoming a major trading partner.

And as for the rest of the world, if it erupted in ‘’Je Suis Charlie’’ sentiments to show solidarity with the French after France’s recent Islamic terrorists incidents, why isn’t the world now not also showing solidarity with Japan as its citizens are being targeted by the same Islamic terrorists?

Obama cannot separate the geo-political aims of the Islamic caliphate and their terroristic measures from the religion, unless the Muslims do it themselves by denouncing sharia.
